Lauren...first off, you're awesome....you need to take the journey, you're jumping around in periods of time, it's the progression of Tool that is the most mind bending.....the first album is right up your alley, you're a metal head/Rocker....your love of Slipknot and harder bands shows that, the first Tool Album is a straight up Pissed off metal album, and very relevant to the time...90-93 period of thier lives and ours.....they tend to take time in between projects, by the time Aenima came out they were 5 years older and looking at things differently.....it's still a pretty pissed off album, but the cerebral side of Tool was emerging....the lyrics were starting to bubble to the top and people started noticing this was more than pissed off...by the time Lateralus hit, these guys were men, different world.....different lives, musicianship was becoming ridiculous, Justin was comfortable, Maynard had centered and started to really develop his want to be better, go next level persona.......by the time 10,000 days hit, it was another 5 years later......they were seasoned, musically and life wise, Maynard had lost his mother, children had been born, right in two was indicative of the times, Racism had run amuck, respect for life had been lost, Greed was king.....technology was emerging.......and let me tell you hon....13 years later they released Fear Inoculum comes out....and it's a masterpiece, reflective of the times again and reflective of where these men were in life.....a 4 piece metal band with all the members except Justin pushing mid to late 50's dethrones Taylor Swift on the Billboard charts.....it's organic and spectacular......I would suggest the song INTOLERANCE from the first album Undertow......It has everything you Love and will put you in touch with the Roots of this band

Why do you think people left the video. Even your analysis proved the army is the most loyal. We stay for the whole video and we dont skip. I also am not offended about any reactor not liking Tool. Its not an easy band to like. I actually feel bad for people who dont like it or understand it cause the army knows there is no greater band on earth and we feel bad that people are missing out. Once again, love you and the reaction. Cant wait for the next one!!!🤘🤘🤘

Definitely one that grows on you the more you hear it, although has never risen into my top 15-20 from them. Of course it is Tool so still excellent and like a lot of their later (could say mature) songs heavily driven by lyrics (meaning/message). Good to see Ticks & Leeches coming, I'd suggest going back to Opiate EP for Jerk Off (as in type of person) for a full 180 back to early, raw, angry that I think you'd really enjoy (and oh the Maynard).

I wouldn't worry about the complainers. If we didn't want pauses and reactions, we would just go listen to the song. There's no accounting for taste. I know that's usually used as an insult but it's true. If we all liked the same things, there would be no audience for reactions. Keep em coming and be ok with not liking a Tool song. (There's even a couple I don't like and I've been an avid fan for a couple decades.)
@imwyrmfood99253 жыл бұрын
To me, there will never be anything better than TOOL. Not going to write an essay on how much their art has touched, or helped me through my life, but just saying, I'm about as die hard as it gets I guess. Having said that, even I have my preferences in their songs, even though there isn't a single one I would say is bad. For example, Die Eir Von Satin is worth at least a cursory listen for a look at the humorous side of the band, but that track will probably never enter double digit listens for me. You're allowed to even dislike a track by TOOL. It's almost as though you're your own person with their own thoughts, feelings, and perspectives on things. Fuckin wild huh? Anyways I'll speak for myself when I say I like your reactions, and can appreciate an honest opinion. Keep going. :)

Being the last real song on the 10,000 Days album (“Viginti Tres” is the last track but it’s just 5 min of sound effects), you kind of need something slower to wrap it all up… especially after “Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)/Rosetta Stoned”. The album is a trip that gives a needed soft landing with this song.

You're such a goof. Not in a bad way though. 1 becomes 2 becomes 4 becomes 8 and it grows and grows. At first a little, but eventually almost overwhelming. Just like the build of this song. Most Tool fans will tell you the rule is 'the more you listen to a Tool song the more you appreciate it'. This song, Right in Two, definitely falls into the category. I think most people might scratch their heads the first time around, but once you're able to wrap your head around the entire song it plays so much better.

I might be wrong, but it seemed like you expected something a bit different than what this song is. I have had that happen many times before and it can leave you feeling a bit underwhelmed at first. Sometimes they end up becoming my favorites after that wears off. I love the slow build of this one combined with the lyricism. I won't say it's my favorite, because I could never pick between them all and it constantly changes, but I don't get burned out on this song and I never skip it when it pops up in a playlist.

Thanks for your reaction. Given your preference for the "rock out" Tool songs, I had a slight suspicion that your reaction might be a bit less...enthusiastic. One of the other KZbinrs said that the quad (tabla?) drum solo seemed like listening to the world's fastest game of ping pong. Lol, now whenever I listen to this song, I have this visual image of overcaffeinated ping pong players going at it. Question though, would the " right in twoooooo" be considered as a "the Maynard"? It is a long note,after all.

I enjoyed your reaction. I personally appreciate this song for its morality. I don't think its much of a stretch to imagine angels shaking their heads wondering just what God was thinking giving us free will. All we've done with it is fuck up everything we get our hands on and battle to take everything from others. Jealousy is a powerful emotion and it fuels some of the most heinous actions. Right in Two tries to show us an outside view of our desire for everything not ours. To the angels it probably seems very petty.

If your going to do more of the 10,00] days album you have to check out Wings for Marie part 1 and 2. Together. Maynard's mother suffered a stroke when he was 11and I left her bound to a wheelchair. I'm pausing the clip myself now. At around the 8m mark... I have the same obstacle here as I have with my partner of 17 years. Yes, it explodes in your eardrums at times. It blindsides you with the odd left hook. But that's why they are top echelon. It's a fucking white-knuckle rollercoaster ride at times. Ofc it's not for everyone, I've got no issue with that. My partner loves Bach, and despite me also knowing more classical music than her, Bach for some reason doesn't float my boat - despite it being just the sort of shit I like - the more notes the better. Solo. Headphones. Never watch a Tool video unless you already know the song. If anyone has questions, ask.

This is the kind of reaction you get when an individual has the musical palette of a teenager obsessed with self gratification and it wants what it wants. Like a cartoon artist who walks into a Jackson Pollock exhibit and says “dude what the fuck is all that shit framed on the walls?” “Thats not art it’s just a bunch of colors slapped on a sheet of paper” “I don’t get it bro”? My response would be, kindly find your cartoon ass out the front door. This song is an absolute Masterpiece, and seeing this cartoon characters review of the song and how confused and lost she and looking like she’s waiting for this “angry Maynard” to appear is annoying. She seriously needs therapy if that’s the only way she can get off musically.

10,000 days was the first tool album that really connected with me, The pot drew me in, and then right in two was 'normal' enough to catch my attention. As I've spent the last 15 years absorbing the rest of their catalogue, I find myself less enamoured with the pair of these songs. On their own, there's nothing wrong with them, but when compared to some of their other tracks, to me they're just okay. I won't turn them off, but I don't actively seek them out. I do enjoy the second half of right in two, it feels hopeful to me, and ends the album well. Others have suggested their early stuff; I personally don't really listen to their first album (it's quite 'basic' rock for the time, although Maynard's voice is still awesome), maybe take a look at Pushit (and then follow it up with the live salival version of Pushit - the best live Maynard vocal I've heard for tool). Long comment but great reactions 👍

I completely understand how you feel, as I think Right In Two is their weakest track to date, both musically and lyrically, if I'm being honest. It certainly gets better in the back half, but not enough to justify the somewhat meh build-up for me personally.
