This isn't Motown, it's Chicago blues. It was written by Willie Dixon and was a hit for Muddy Waters in 1954. (10yrs. before this cover). It has been covered by The Rolling Stones and many blues bands play it.

This song makes it easy to understand how they got their name. According to Bill Medley (the tall one)..." they then adopted the name "The Righteous Brothers" for the duo because black Marines from the El Toro Marine base started calling them "righteous brothers". At the end of a performance, a black U.S. Marine in the audience would shout, "That was righteous, brothers!", and would greet them with "Hey righteous brothers, how you doin'?" on meeting them."

Keep in mind that they were only about 24 years old when they recorded it. Not yet famous. Interesting point. In his 70's Bill Medley recorded a blues CD called Your Heart To Mine. As well as his own fabulous This Will Be The Last Time ( I Ever Sing the Blues) he rerecorded All I Really Wanna Do and a filthy version of Rock Me Baby. He's pushing 80 and still sexy! Jamel...what you said obout "the music from the old days is where it's at". You understand more than most young folks ever will. I was in High School in core Chicago from 1962 to 66, Lane Tech. Then off to the Vietnam war. I did fine, so that's not my point. My point is that we had the most amazing music in those days. We hung out at our neighborhood greasy spoon restaurant. We took our junk yard cars to the drag strip on Friday and Saturday nights. (and that's a whole other story) We went to dances at our High School. And we drove down to the lake with our dates to "talk" (Uh huh) and listen to the music. WLS Chicago with Dick Biondi. I think you just figured it out, and good for you.
