Okay guys. Here is a little info. This was Bobby Hatfield, one half of the Righteous Brothers along with Bill Medley. This was on the Andy Williams TV show. Live. No electronic cleaning or autotune. This was called the greatest recorded live pop music performance ever. The guys also did You've lost that loving feeling, which was the most played pop song of the 20th century. The guys used to perform under a different name. One day they were performing in the south somewhere and after the show a young Marine from the audience walked past them at the meet and greet and said that was righteous brothers. They decided to keep that as their name. Bobby suffered from stage fright, and also his Mom was in the audience that night along with his singing partner Bill. You'd never know he was nervous.

Asia, you seemed more interested in his appearance than his amazing voice. You spoilt it for me.

The Righteous Brothers were very popular and they are iconic 'Blue Eyed Soul' singers. Check out The Righteous Brothers on Andy Williams Show, 'Tell You What I Say' a Ray Charles tune. And men and women had to look well groomed, 'polished' for live performances. Yes he was a looker with beautiful blue eyes. His voice is unbelievable and he could have sung opera with his falsetto voice, but did not. You guys miss-out on how he truly sounded like, getting distracted with his attractive appearance. lol

Two notes. This was the most played song on the radio in the 20th century. Also, the lyrics were written from the perspective of someone in prison wanting to know if his lady would still be there for him when he got out. FYI.

Most of us men don't have any idea what it feels like to be beautiful but Bobby Hatfield sure got to know.

He took his voice higher on this TV performance than on the studio version.

Now this is real music. No cussing and swearing. No violence and calling females filthy names. No auto tune!! Just pure harmony and talent from Bobby Hatfield. The man is a true gentleman. You put this on when it's just you and your girl and it's red panties night. ❤️❤️❤️😆😆😆

Thing about the Righteous Brothers is they both could sing beautifully. No one could sing " YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN FEELING " like Bill Medley nor could anyone sing " UNCHAINED MELODY" like Bobby Hatfield....they were both unsurpassable

"Unchained Melody" was written in 1955 by Alex North and Hy Zaret. It was written as the theme song for the prison film "Unchained," hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. In 1955, three versions of the song (by Les Baxter, Al Hibbler, and Roy Hamilton) charted in the Billboard top 10 in the United States, and four versions (by Al Hibbler, Les Baxter, Jimmy Young, and Liberace) appeared in the top 20 in the United Kingdom simultaneously, a record for any song. Of the hundreds of recordings made, the Righteous Brothers' version, featuring a Bobby Hatfield solo, became the jukebox standard and reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 14 in the UK in 1965. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, but the Righteous Brothers' 1965 version remains the most popular. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.

1965 early in color-TV era, for Andy William Show. Like a performance today on a late night show, filmed live before a studio audience. This better than studio version that was used on Ghost. He just cut loose, knowing it would be broadcast to a nationwide audience on NBC.

I love your reactions, but I was surprised at the focus on his looks and not his talent. Bobby Hatfield sang this SO beautifully...and the man had a head cold. This was such an amazing live performance.

All performers wore stage makeup. They still do. The hair was the style of the day. The suit was color coordinated. They were on a show and it was Valentine's day. Please stop picking him apart.

If this is your first time reacting to the Righteous Brothers, it makes no sense to me to start with a solo. You need to hear the fantastic harmonies of both "brothers" singing together like You've Lost that Loving Feeling or Soul and Inspiration. After you hear them both, then you can move on to a solo like this one.

They can do what they want, and apparently, based on their comments during the react, they had no idea what this performance would be.
@ricabel3212 жыл бұрын
@@smithereensfan3766 LMAO! Or they are both lying and have heard this before and made this because they think it makes them look smart and fair & balanced (if you know what I mean). And they think they can fool a lot of viewers. Did they fool you?

Any makeup was so the camera film could capture the image well. There was no digital anything back then. Notice how the live audience was so respectful so as not to cause nay distractions, and so as not to miss a moment of the performance.

Live band and performance. The Righteous Brothers (not real brothers), Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield both wanted to record the single, so they tossed a coin and Bobby won. It was meant to be because no one could match this perfection. No gimmicks, no autotune, no jumping around the stage and no veins bulging in his neck and head for those high notes. Just pure talent and amazing range. After 60 years it’s still thrills old and young alike. RIP Bobby.
