Besides being in the Guiness Book Of World Records for 18 years for the lowest bass note, in 1955 when he was singing with the Blackwoods he designed the first custom touring bus. There is a performance of Elvis singing the gospel song, PEACE IN THE VALLEY, on the Ed Sullivan Show that he wanted to share with the country after a tumultuous period in his early career that didn't reflect his true self. It is magic. Later in his career, he would record two albums of gospel music for which he was most proud. His gospel recordings were the only Grammy Awards he would ever win. He made sure that J.D. Sumner and the Stamps provided the backing vocals for the.music that meant the most him. Listen to, HE TOUCHED ME and VRYING IN THE CHAPEL and try to hold back your tears. I remember with fondness my own Mother as she listened and wept to his tender message of Christ, the Lord, and Heaven above. Amen.

This is shortly before Elvis died. You can see he wasn't the same man. His physical health had deteriorated to the point, that it was just a matter of time. One of the nicest, and most generous people ever. He would give away new cars to poor folk, both Black and white. He bought poor families Homes, and he never told anyone what he was doing. God knew, and now we do too. Elvis was a very Godly man, despite his struggles with prescription drugs for over 40 years. He now sings just for The Lord. God Bless you guys Thanks

Elvis used to get so keyed up for his shows. When he "left the Building" he would go back to his hotel suite. And he couldn't "come down" - his energy level was too high. He would gather his singers together around a piano, and he would ask them to sing gospel songs, and he would sing with them. For Hours and Hours until the sun came up. That was the only thing that would calm him down. He LOVED old time gospel songs. Elvis grew up singing in church, and even sang in All Black Churches in Memphis.

That bass is JD Summner one of the best quartet bass singers of all time. Him and Elvis were good friends. While in concert. Elvis had the best back up singers. One of the women was Whitney Houston Mother. He had the best of everything

Elvis had JD Sumner do a voice demo in his concerts. His voice was so deep and reverberated and shook you right to the bone. I can imagine it could be felt and head a half mile away from the venue.

Elvis did a 1968 Comeback special that you should have a look at. The part where he and his band sat on a stage, about as big as a boxing ring, and did that part of the show was my favorite part. He wore black leather pants and jacket. My favorite song from that was "Trying to get to you". The last song he sang was a tribute to Martin Luther King, "If I Can Dream". Wonderful song.

The bass singer asked Elvis to go to another group and that group was The Oak Ridge Boys. You can get more of the bass from there music as well. One is Elvira.
