Hey Bryce , How cool is it to have an uncle who does that for a living ? What a great video . Learned a lot . Your uncle seems like a no nonsense , tough as nails kind of guy . I guess you have to be to stay alive in that business . At what age did you start working with him ? Will you follow in his footsteps ? The Gaboon took the win for me . Peace
@BryceBroom4 жыл бұрын
Tomsawyerspit well to be honest, sadly he makes no money on this, he self funds this because it costs more to take care of the animals than he ever makes back in supplying the venom sadly. I only started learning and working under him in the last couple of years, I probably won’t go specifically into venom for antivenom but I’d prefer going into venom research and how we can use it medically. The Gaboons and absolutely insane!
@johnngatia48804 жыл бұрын
These animals are from Africa (most of them). Do they get equitable benefits from the sale of pharmaceutical products derived from their biodiversity?
@BryceBroom4 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, it’s a tricky question! They do however benefit from the venom they produce that gets used to save lives because if there wasn’t a cure for snakebite people would kill more snakes than they do. So the antivenom saves snake lives.

Jennifer wow Jennifer, seems like you’re very knowledgeable about venom extraction here in Africa. If you have any input and would like to show us how you would handle these animals pealed do send a video to me. Next time I’d appreciate you watching the video prior to commenting about the venom being used for scientific research, as it is clearly stated that this venom is used in the production of antivenom. If you would like to help raising or donating money for this process, it would be highly appreciated as this is purely funded by uncle Mike and he makes no money off of this, he actually looses money. I’d love to hear your response!
@BryceBroom4 жыл бұрын
Jennifer hahaha that’s hilarious, thanks for the laughs😉 I suppose you’ve also got experience living in Africa to make such a broad statement? Please tell me why this is not hygienic, because all milking facilities around the world that I’ve seen also milk in their snake room.

Even here in my nation facilities are opening (United States) to extract venom. The one bragging how clean and humaine they have it and I mention this video of Mike Perry's operation where the donors have regular husbandry sized enclosures ,while here those miserable tubs. The large snakes cannot even stretch they're spines. I like them to have decent sized enclosures.. Nice set up there.. I often revisit this video,best on the web of the process.
