I am truly sorry you have lost someone you so greatly care about and deeply respect. He passed doing what he absolutely loved, which, if I had my choice, I would go the same way. I am in league with all us in this very small community, and advocate as much as possible for snakes, especially venomous snakes. They are my passion, and Ryan possessed my dream job. I know you are hurting, but take comfort he was an inspiration to people like you and I who wish to follow in his footsteps. I consider him a hero for the reptile community because he devoted, and gave his life for it. May God bless you and keep you safe as you move forward to achieve your goals. There is a lot of fields out there, that can be extremely dangerous. Even some of the most critical jobs to a nation can be lethal. Whether it's ...construction or welding, or military and police. It is a little cliche to say he died doing what he loved, because now he's gone and his family and friends will have a hole in them forever. But this guy was very passionate about what he did, a lot of snake handlers are, otherwise they wouldn't do it. He had a rare reaction, similar to the one Dingo Dinkelman deals with, he probably had an allergy to a protein that is found in the venom of elapids, unfortunetely sometimes that will never be discovered until it's too late.

It really goes to show just how dangerous these snakes can be. One minute he's enjoying his life, his health and then stripped right away. Its crazy to think he never knew when he woke up that morning that it was gonna be the last day of his life. Very sad and tragic.
