Even at their 40s, these two were full of life and energy and can reprise their most famous roles at ease. Though Ade doesn’t have that shouty voice and pout that Vyvyan, TBF he probably had to do this on the spot.

When Eddie said "oh stupendously crapper", that's a nod to Filthy, Rich and Catflap when Richie asks Eddie what did he think of his performance on a game show he was in and Eddie replies "It was stupendously bad".

Sadly, due to Rik Mayall being permanently unavailable, we'll never get a Young Ones reunion. Some kind of one-off with them all now a bunch of 50-somethings might even have worked, "Bill & Ted Face the Music"-style. Or maybe it would've been a ghastly mistake that we're better off without? Who knows? There's some decent comedy potential in exploring what happened in those characters' later lives, though. I bet Neil would be bald, and I also bet that at least 2 of them would've sold out completely and become everything their 80s selves would've sneered at :)

I thought the "Young Ones" cameo was the best thing about the whole of the last two live shows they did. I thought both were pretty wretched and Ade himself has said he didn't want to do them. The first two live shows were fantastic though 😆😆

No he doesn't. It's the heavy metal 'horns' hand gesture, when he says "I'm not afraid to swear" - i.e. "I'm rock 'n' roll!", hence the gesture.

"The Young Ones" was the worst thing these two ever did in their otherwise brilliant career. The Comic Strip was brilliant, Bottom was possibly the best comedy ever made in the UK, but The Young Ones was very amateurish, unnecessarily loud, and not really funny. I hated the characters, I hated the plot (was there one?), and I hated how they kept doing one stupid thing after another, expecting, for some reason, that people would laugh. I only cringed in utter disbelief. Rubbish series.
@chanyphilly82667 жыл бұрын
Ted Striker I agree. having grown up around bottom first, the young ones failed to do anything for me. it was like a step back.
@manicmania70467 жыл бұрын
I assume this is bait..? The young ones were the forerunners of alternative comedy. The surrealism was inspired by Monty python and the slapstick by bustor Keaton. Nobody has ever come close to recapturing this style of comedy in decades. And this was broadcasted by the BBC... The young ones is seminal, never to be recreated... I dislike your comment in the harshest possible terms sir
@TakersMissy7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, manic mania - you "GET it"!! The Young Ones would've felt right at home with the early Buster Keaton or at Mack Sennett's studio with Charlie Chaplin or the Keystone Kops! ;-) In this case, I vehemently disagree with ol' Ted Striker.
@LightSpectris6 жыл бұрын
Ted Striker that’s funny, I watched Bottom and The Young Ones back to back and I thought they’re both good. Maybe because I actually have a sense of humour Looks like someone’s from the fun police
