Don Leo Jonathan was one of the earliest mobile big men, at 6' 7" 300+ lbs. Jonathan was very agile and could adept to any style. A true pioneer and opened the door for other future big guys like Andre the Giant, Ernie Ladd, Big John Studd, and so on, Jonathan was incredible.

I remember Don Leo Jonathan from the early 70's in Grand Prix Wrestling. He was my favorite. I still think he was one of the greatest.

I loved his cocky, cocksure, bully-like style of wrestling, kind of a combination of brawling and wrestling...and Don loved to hurt His opponent, but even more so, humiliate them in front of the other men in the crowd...

Tank you for uploading this precious footage from which we can enjoy young massive and agile Don Leo Johnathan who is the youngest wrestler Riki fought in life. The Destroyer is 1year older than Don. I think that his ferocious attack results from Riki's repeated chop on collar bone. 6:25 and 16:19 scenes probably certifies my message. that's same on the match against Lou Thesz at 1953 Hawaii. Chop on chest is allowable but unforgivable on collar bone for him. Riki doesn't call such formidable wrestler once again in life due to learned lesson from this bout.

ジョナサンはモルモン教徒だから試合、競技もカフェインもアルコールも駄目ですね。但し、力道山の攻撃に本気で怒ったのでは？力道山がバラバラにされる程強い相手として再戦を嫌がったのは、確かジョナサンとビルミラー、ディックハットンでテーズが強いライバルと認めたのと被る。まあ、力道山が何度か腰から落ちる程、投げられてリバウンドする程 ジョナサンは強いですね。

小さい頃、大手新聞社の発行してる写真雑誌でこの戦いの様子を見ました。「飛ぶジョナサン」という写真説明とともに力道山にドロップキックを見舞うシーンでしたがまだデビュー間もない売り出し中のジョナサンに流石の力道山もてこずってる印象でしたね。

身体の大きさが違うから力道山はやりにくかったでしょう。同じ頃のシカゴでのテーズ対ジョナサン戦が掲載されてるからみてほしい。もっとテクニック使える選手。そのことは馬場の全日本に来日して証明している。それにしても力道山は本当にレスリングが下手だ。
