After some thought I have decided to not put "Hypnosis Scene" in the title, because I couldn't find any proof that she has been mind controlled or brainwashed although the color of her eyes changed to red. Some sources like the wikia claim that she was mind controlled by the necklace, but I didn't notice that in the episode. The only actual proof that I could find is that is mentioned that anyone who tries to master the "Aurora Rising" lost themselves into darkness. That's why Rythm even disrepects her father although she only hates Sonata(Rythm's Mother who abandoned her), Kaname the new daughter of Sonata, and Aira for jealousy.

thats correct, i wouldnt say its a corruption via hypnosis but this only happens when someone wants to master Aurora Rising. If anyone didn't know, this scenario happened to Sonata, Rizumu's mom. This even affected her to the point she left her family and trained Kaname, her adopted daughter. (Sonata herself did the jump and the corruption got worst soon after because she thought it was fake). Yeah, the dub has it Rizumu not Rhythm, that's cool, right? Though, It's not the technique exactly that makes them do this. I noticed Sonata also has the same trainer with Rizumu. I see why it happened again. That trainer is basically an ice queen. It's evident enough when Rizumu's dad notices Sonata in Rizumu. I wonder if Sonata made Kaname has the same hairstyle like hers on her old days on purpose.

It's like the writing gore version of a high speed train collision. A rapidly moving metaphor slams into the narrative and becomes very literal, spraying the scene in sharp fragments of sense and logic that was once the engine that drove both trains. By the end, there's nothing but a mess of meta-narrative fragments that once resembled a story, and a crowd of confused onlookers wondering how this was allowed to happen. Worse, this sounds like a common occurrence with the "Pretty" franchise in general.

Unpopular opinion but I used to prefer Rizumu over Aira as the main character. She had a better backstory and grit. I just didn't like the ditzy and whiny personality that Aira had. Plus Rizumu had more motive to strive towards being a Prism Queen anyway. Also apparently Rizumu was the MC in the manga so I wish they had gone on that route. But well, pink always has to be the main theme in shows centred around girls I guess

It's an ice skating anime called Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream. Rhythm was trying to perform said Aurora Dream bc of her issues with her mom abandoning her to perfect the trick. Said trick corrupts you if your heart isn't pure and it's why Rhythm is motherless at the start and her old trainer pushes Rhythm to outperform her mother and her best friends in order to be #1. Said trainer is also the mom of the main trio's manager.

^^ the comment above pretty much summed it up already, but I'll explain as well. In this show there exists idols known as Prism Stars, who sing and dance on ice skating rinks and perform prism jumps (like Aira did here 'Fresh Fruits Basket etc). Rizumu, Aira and the blonde girl at the end named Mion are a close trio who perform as an unit together. Rizumu's mother Sonata became the Prism Queen when Rizumu was still an infant, by performing a prism jump called Aurora Rising which is the hardest jump to master, and nobody could do it again for 13 years. But unexpectedly, after this, Sonata abandoned her family. Rizumu thus desperately wants to perform this jump because she feels this is the key to bringing her mother back. The old coach woman here was also her mom's trainer so Rizumu approaches her for help, to which she said that Rizumu has to sacrifice her love for the people she cares about (the same thing her mom went through). Which lead to both her mom and Rizumu to lose their sense of identity, and their love for prism shows. Although Rizumu was lucky that she had friends who saved her from completely losing herself, her mom wasn't so lucky.

I watched Pretty Rhythm as a child. Now that I'm grown up, I've had to re-watch all the seasons. And damn, Pretty Rhythm dealt with themes that could be considered quite dark in an anime aimed at kids, especially Rizumu's mother's arc.
