Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this multi day video Riley International Rescue were on call for 2 of the steam workings we see in this video.
Ian Riley's black 5 44871 working 3 steam trips in 4 days 2 of them with the railway touring company & 1 for west coast railways.
We start on at Oxenholme on the Saturday as we see 44871 climbing through Oxenholme Lake District with The Railway Touring Company's Cumbrian Mountain Express on the usual circuit.
44871 stepped in at the 11th hour as the threat of the trip being cancelled after West Coast Railways's 34067 Tangmere who was booked for the trip failed her Fit To Run test the night before the trip on Friday night.
Fortunately 44871 who was at Crewe Heritage Centre at the time was 88 miles away from Carnforth & moved on Friday evening to work the train.
We move onto the next day on The Liverpool & Manchester Railway as we see 44871 on his booked run with The Railway Touring Company's The North Wales Coast Express from Liverpool to Llandudno & back.
We start by seeing 44871 through Lea Green on the outward run before seeing him through Rainhill some 10 hours later while on the return run.
With 34067 Tangmere still not fit to return to the mainline 44871 was called upon again to work West Coast Railways's The Pendle Dalesman the 1st 1 of the year from Lancaster to Carlisle & return out & back via the S&C.
We start at Preston as we see the black 5 arrive & depart from the station before shooting off to Appleby which we made it with 10 minutes to spare before 44871 past by.
Armathwaite was planned for the return run however a combo of poor weather & threat of being blanked out was scrapped & we headed to Pleasington for the return run.
We end this multi day with 44871 passing through the station while heading back to Lancaster.
Hats off to Ian Riley & his team for pulling out all the stops in getting 44871 ready at short notice.
Thanks for reading enjoy the film.
