at first we try to fit it without moving the fuse box bracket but it wasn't successful.

Great video, tackled my S40 today and removed one screw of white bracket and slackened other screw and just turned white bracket slightly to make it easier to put in new filter. who ever designed this is a baboon.

Thanks mate I replaced mine today. Was pretty straightforward. I started taking of all those big fuses to get to it and engine bay started humming so I was like oh sht what have I done. Put it all back together followed ur tutorial instead. Hope this smell goes or I’ll drive it off a cliff.

@@ORileysAutos it’s that wet sock mildew smell. The carpets are not wet I’m assuming from other people’s experience it’s the aircon evaporator that is moldy . I think the previous owner always had aircon on and left windows up it’s whole life. I’m likely going to sell it.

Anyone else reading through this about a mildew smell; try spraying a compressed can of Dettol disinfectant (or any anti bacterial spray) through the fresh air intake vents typically below the windscreen of the car with the car blowing it through all the interior vents. Usually if it's a smell that only appears with the fans on it's because the aircon was left on cold and switched off without time for the moisture to evaporate. Makes the car smell brand new, added that you replace the cabin air filter along with these steps

At Last! A video showing how to access the cabin filter in a Mk II Volvo S40 RHD. A lot of other vids are of LHD or the previous models . But a ten-minute job?? It took me over an hour this afternoon, with a lot of cussing, But I did it. The steel nut that holds the fuse panel white support bracket is 13mm: a torch & patience are required! Many thanks.

When I did one I simply disconnected the battery, unplugged the fuse box wiring, removed the white bracket. I refused to struggle. I could see myself ripping the new filter. Take note of the arrow on the bracket saying ‘this way up’ as you can fit it upside down.

I took the bracket and fuse box out, was a V50, dunno if they had less space but It was easy to do both. I vaccumed and blew out the AC box too.

I just did this in a rhd v50 and it was not fun! But the video helped, so thank you. I ended up unplugging all the wiring plugs and removing the white bracket (held by two 13mm head nuts). Then 3x 7mm head screws to take the cover off. Filter was fiddly to position in but I got there in the end!

I've added to my Haynes manuel to remove the fusebox bracket! I feel they missed that bit as it's impossible to do without moving it. Thanks for the video, definitely helped!

I did make a few mistakes on this video as I didn't do any research before doing the job and also holding the camera with one hand made it a little more difficult to put in. In future I would say it's a lot more simple for me now that I know the bracket needs moving
