Because they’re practically indestructible. If you’re traveling a lot to odd places with only one small airline option, with very expensive clothing and shoes, you want some thing that won’t get damaged. These things are supposed to last a lifetime, or at least 10 years. If you're worried about bedbugs (legit concern), you really need to bag and keep things away for a year, preferably covered in diatomaceous earth. Bedbugs can live much longer than a week in isolation.

A good find and should be priced exactly like that. But these comments are ridiculous. People need to do their research. These are not retailed at $1,800. The ones that are donated are much older and Rimowa no longer reproduces them. It also depends on where it was made. Older ones don’t have the life time warranty. These are pretty banged up and older Rimowa luggage’s are known for that.

People can say what they want about blaming it on the resellers, but 99% of the population that frequents Good Will, Volunteers of America and Salvation Army, are simply trying to put clothes on their backs, dishes, silverware and pots ‘n pans in their kitchen, and anything else they need. I for one, have been buying all ( well almost all) my clothes at these places since my daughter started middle school and wanted brand names like all her friends. That was about 25 years ago and now I can’t bear to shop regular retail due to sticker shock, now the sticker shock is at the donation resale stores🤔💩!!!!!

Here, some places pick out the best things, and put them up for auction. Others will keep stuff back, if they think it is valuable, and then somebody travels round to the stores to evaluate the things - because God forbid somebody found a great deal!! And I've seen places, where they call in pro resellers, and let them pick through things first!! And I'm thinking, they must be absolutely braindead, because dealers want - a good deal!! They aint paying up!! So then, the regular customer don't have a chance 🙄 And the dummeste thing, is that they are loosing money, dealing like that🙄 BUT I will say, that when you then DO find something amazing, that slipped through... like a big, sterling silver jewellery box, or expensive porcelain... That is a good day 😂

When airports lose luggage they donate them . They wait for a period of time and when they're not claimed they donate them.

My husband bought 2 , many years ago and I was not familiar with it i hated and he insisted on using them. I wanted to throw the bags 😂😂 and ours are not that bad.

OMG, What a great find! I've always wanted some. I have a small wallet that has that same material and looks like a mini suitcase, I got from a friend. I would've asked you too if I had passed by you in the store lol only once just to ask, I'm sure you must've wanted to get outta there 😂
