Ring Pro Relay Connections

I have a Nutone IMA-4406 intercom and used this relay to hook up the Ring Video doorbell 2 to the intercom digital chime. I disconnected the door speaker wires and connected them to one of the IMA-4406's 2 transformers, since these wires were at the location where I mounted the Ring. These wires were connected to the relay and Ring as documented by Corgitronics and the doorbell wires to the relay contacts as shown in this video. Works like a charm! Many thanks to Corgitroncs, for an $8 relay the Xmas gift from my daughter now works. I had called the Ring help line and all they told me was my intercom was not compatible. Talk about heads in the sand...they could have easily included a schematic like Corgitronics in their instructions.

how would you wire ring elite with elan chine with builtin tranformer 12 volts to activate the trigger for the door bell

Will this work for a ring 2? It only has 2 terminals on the back for power and comes with a diode.

Just talked to Ring support about the Ring 2 I received for Christmas. Use the diode if you do not plan to wire power from a transformer but want to use it with a digital doorbell. If you want to power the Ring like in Corgitronics video, you need to install a 25ohm 50watt resistor in series with one of the wires from the transformer (instead of using the Ring Pro Power Kit in his example).

Why isn't there a problem running 24V to the Nutone electronic doorbell, which I believe uses 16V? I have a 16V 30VA transformer. Can I use it for both the Ring (August in my case) doorbell as well as the Nutone? Great instructions, by the way. /Wayne

What you can do depends on which Ring doorbell you have and which Nutone intercom. Some of the larger intercoms have 2 30VA transformers, and those generally can power a RingPro, or so I have been told. If you have a Ring2 doorbell (with the rechargeable battery in it), then any of the intercoms with a 16V transformer can power it. Making sure that I fully answer any aspects of your question: The terminals on the intercom chime board are low voltage DC, and feeding the 16-24 VAC into them would likely kill the intercom, thus using the relay to isolate those sensitive terminals from the AC.

I'm getting a ring tomorrow I thought of the relay idea myself what is the power module I understand the relay being 24 volts goes in series with the transformer and the ring what is a power module? that I do not understand please advise thank you very much. Want the trigger of the Ring to close a pair of contacts on a relay to make the ding dong for my electronic doorbell.

After watching your video, I completed the wiring identical to your diagram and I am unable to get the 24V AC Relay to engage and trigger my NuTone NM200 Intercom Chime. I have pictures of my wiring diagram as well as the actual devices wired if anyone can help. Thanks

I watched videos on connecting the Ring to a relay. I have the August Doorbell which is very similar to the Ring and Nest. It too needs additional power to run. The only difference I see is the August does not have a power module. My NuTone is a three bell system (Front, Side and Rear doors). In the end, I want to have all three working, but for simplicity, I am starting just with the front where the August is. I understand the concept of how you wired it, but I have an additional wire connection on the Nutone I don't know how to incorporate. On the board, each door has a connections, then there is a green and a yellow wire to connect somewhere. In NuTone's wiring diagram, the yellow wire connects to the transformer, the green wire connects to one lead to each doorbell, and each doorbell's other wire connects to the corresponding screw connection on NuTones board. I would appreciate it if you could help me determine which two wires connect to the constant and always open terminals on the relay, and what to do with the third. Thanks

Nutone makea a lot of different chimes, do you have the model number or any other information about the chime? Is it an electronic chime or mechanical? As for not having the power-kit, you can probably just substitue a large power resistor, but you'll need to know how much current the August draws on standby.
