Plastic mounts, winter winds, 'snap' -it broke after a month. However, Ring was really understanding about it when I called and they took care of it. However, I really wish they would make more durable mounts. If only there was a way to make the panels not so easily caught by the wind.

When showing this video you said that the new upgraded Ring Solar Panel has no lines, but when I called Ring to order, Ring sales department said they did not know what I was talking about, because all of the Ring Solar Panel's have lines. So my question then is: Where did you get that Ring Solar Panel without any lines on the face of the solar panel.

Using these on Stick up cam solar (3rd gen) and the extra 0.4A (old barrel style is 0.4A and new USB-C is 0.8A) seems to be helping in the winter days in keeping charge for cams in high traffic areas.

Am I correct in assuming you could use this panel to charge a usb-c power bank??
@abc123fhdi2 жыл бұрын
Do you have to adjust the angle of the solar panels throughout the year? Also on cloudy days it seems it will run out of battery unless the battery can last several weeks on a single charge. Being that it's a battery powered cam you should do some testing how well it detects motion and the pre-roll, as well as image quality in day and night, frame rate and resolution compared to wired. In addition, the solar panels will need to be cleaned of dirt and debris. Wired cameras are install and it justs works except in a power outage I guess, but even these cameras will need a router and model with backup battery.
@LifeHackster2 жыл бұрын
You don't have to adjust it. It just needs 2 hours of sun hitting the panels. On cloudy days, it will most likely not charge and will just use the batteries and will charge it again when the sun comes out. Wired is always going to be better as to features and I have mentioned it in my review video which I linked in the description down below.
@lexuslicata2 жыл бұрын

So if you have no sun for a week (I'm in the Uk) will the internal battery last? If so, for how long? How long can I go without sun?
@TheIaindavidson9 ай бұрын
Even on the winter solstice in the most notherly part of the UK, the sun is above the horizon for over 13 hours. Clouds tend to only obscure some visible frequencies of light, solar voltaic panels use different spectrums of light from the human eye.

I even went as far as using my solar panel from the Ring Spotlight Cam (Not pro or plus) with the USB-C adapter Nothing! Next step purchasing a RING brand Solar panel with the USB-C direct plug! I could not find anything out online on why this is happening! I hope the RING Solar panel for this works!
