Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. kzbin.infoUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

I just installed a Ring video doorbell pro today and must thank you for the idea of mounting the transformer in an enclosure next to a double socket and plugging it in. Funnily enough the doorbell didn't come with the power adapter with the 2 red wires that you talk about in this video so i guess its not needed anymore. I used 6 core alarm cable instead of bell wire as i think it looks neater stapled and i put a 20mm compression gland for the flex to come out of the bottom of the enclosure to provide some strain relief in case the flex gets tugged.

Hi glad see see that you got yours working, the black and red wires was just a 1amp fuse its been replaced by ring with a bypass unit which is a small square block and must be installed on terminal 4 on the transformer as its an electronic fuse. If there is a power power of some kind it will shut the ring doorbell down ,it then has to be rest by switching the power off then back on to reset the unit.

Yesterday i tried to install the ring doorbell pro. I wired it the way you showed. I used 0.75mm cable, a plug with a 3amp fuse and the transformer they gave at terminals 1 and 4. It started up and I got as far as trying to find the ring network on wifi then it stopped working. Thanks to you I went around to Barlows and they gave me the only 1amp slow blow fuse they had. It's now working with only a few possible issues with the rssi. I need to set up the area for motion detection because I'm getting alerts for every car at the moment.

@@siatelecomsltdLondon Hi , Firstly, thank you very much as finally someone took the effort of putting up a video of this installation as not everyone wants to fit one in a CU . I installed mine yesterday and it was all working until this morning when I came back from the gym and rang the bell. It rang once and then lost power completely . So I checked and had the same issue as someone commented above i.e a blown fuse in the power pro cable. I replaced the 1amp fuse and it powered up again. However, rang the bell again, it rang once and the fuse blew out again. Do you know why the fuse keeps blowing up ? It should happen only when the bell draws too much current , right ? My connections are o.k. and as you've mentioned in the video. Thanks

@@ravirgo27 hi thanks that does not sound right?like you said if the fuse has blown again could be a voltage issue in your premises?i would contact ring and inform them of this issue.there is a new device which is a bypass unit that will be replacing the black fuse holder contact ring and get them to send out the new bypass device.

@ravirgo27 5 жыл бұрын
@@siatelecomsltdLondon I may have found the issue as it is now working after the 3rd fuse change, but keeping fingers crossed. As I don't use an existing chime but the chime that comes in the box , the doorbell kit settings should be "none". The default setting is mechanical , which although worked for sometime for me , eventually blew the fuse out. The 2nd outage would be me as I changed it from mechanical to digital thinking I'd still need to set it to something but this blew the fuse out again. Ring's website says that it should be set to none , before you even ring the doorbell the first time as it could lead to a blown fuse. I think this was the issue with my setup but if it pops out again , I'll call ring support as you suggest. Thanks

Thanks for the insight I do now separate the.mains and bell wire ,the mains wire was tided to the inside of the box at the bottom by drilling a hole I just did not show that in the video as I had not yet finished the job this is one of the things that really annoys me about this particular box and actually other enclosures there is no way of tying down the mains cable any other cable that's in the box so I have to drill a hole at the top or the bottom and then use a tie wrap to tie the cable to the plastic box this is a criticism that I've emailed to the companies. This is one thing that seems to keep popping up in the comments that people assume that I left the mains cable to dangle out of the bottom of the transformer without being securely tight this is not the case I would not do that because it's dangerous it's when I finished that job I secured the cable thanks

Hi, sorry but a couple of things; 1) doorbell/Tx is premantley fixed current using equipment so must be fed/protected via appropriate fused spur if off of a ring/radial. Not a plug. This would require a minor works cert as a min. **DIYers you can still do this through building control. 2) You need to segregate LV and ELV, bell wire should go out the top of the unit with a closed grommit as a min. 3) You should really be installing in "non-combustable" enclosures. (But you are right in not going into the db, i dont know of any "ring" dbs atm, and the tx would void the warranty). .....^^it all sounds pedantic, but txs get hot and (apart from dbs) are one of the main causes of starting fires. Its easy to make electrical installs work, but if they're not installed and certificated correctly, the book gets thrown at YOU as the installer, when somebodys house burns down and insurance is void. Recommend people stick these on anything with txs (laptops, phone chargers etc) and throw away any chargers etc that get too hot www.safe-connect.co.uk/hpi/

...and before somebody says it, i know there is a ring plug in adapter for the pro etc.... but its currently 'unavailable', assume somebody has realised the reg and has put it on hold rather then sold out?? Unless there is an underlining reg that excludes a complete ELV install?

I am considering powering the transformer via an FCU box off a non fused 2 socket spur which comes off the ring main in the garage instead of a 3 pronged plug into the 2 socket spur. As in your example. Also, would it be a good idea to secure the flex cable that feeds in at the bottom of the transformer? It looks like you will need to get an extn lead to plug into the wall socket and plug the adapter into a 4 way socket ?

I m not sure if the transformer should be wired to the 24v option considering most doorbells are either 8v or 16v - there are some rare options that do work with 24v. From what I know Ring and other smart doorbells like Logitech operating between 8v to 24v so I would think choosing the 8v option is better here.

Hi Telephone Engineer London. Great vid. My current door bell wire is exchange jumper wire (as a telephone engineer, I hope you know what I'm referring to), will this be ok to use with the Ring pro? Or will I need to replace it? Bearing in mind that jumper wire would carry ISDN2 at around 90v. Also from the transformer could I run some bell wire to my existing door chime to make that ring at the same time as the Pro?

Hi yep good old jumper wire is fine I use to use 6 wire cable to run to the front door but I'm now using two wire bell cable from toolstation 50m for £8 odd good quality similar thickness to jumper wire and much cheaper.as for the door chime I never wire to it remember it's about 8v the ring pro operates at min 16v it can be done there is a guy in the uk who has done it but I don't bother as the pro comes with a wireless chime which is pretty loud and you can have several of them around your home at various volume levels thanks
