The thing that offends me the most is the fact that these people are neither willing nor able to take any creative risks of their own. They could have created their own fantasy universe inhabited with their own characters, but then they wouldn't be able to use Tolkien's good name as leverage--which is all it was ever really about in the first place. They can't create their own success, so they feed off of someone else's like the fleas, ticks, and leeches they are.

It is really sad. I had low expectations for the show after the direction most Hollywood book adaptation took in recent years. I could not imagine the show being so bad every step. I would love to say that I loved the show but it would be like stabing Tolkien in the back. Can't agree more with the Creator of this channel... I would like to say he is wrong but he is not

I genuinely think Amazon’s strategy is to get enough Tolkien fans to hate watch the show to justify them overspending on the rights. There are some “normies” who like the show, but they won’t stick around long term like haters (like myself) will.

There are exceptions. I own all of tolkiens works, and have read most of them several times over, especially children of hurin. I very much dislike peter Jackson's take on middle earth and prefer Amazon's. Now, admittedly, they fucked the timeline so hard that it'll never walk again, but literally everything else I love. I've watched the first season 6 times over. I've spoken to many other fans who agree with me. It's getting renewed because it is popular, much more so than the vocal minority realize.

@@DoomDadward What do you think Amazon is doing better than the Jackson trilogy? I know of Tolkien purists who don't like Jackson's films, but I've yet to hear anyone with this perspective.

This show was a hot pile of garbage, just like this commentary. I guess the premise of this video is supposed to be that Amazon writes off Tolkien fans as bigots when they express legitimate criticism about the show not relating to race or gender. After briefly saying that the writing sucks, which it does, the rest of the commentary is just complaining about having black people and women take any/ a bigger part in the show. The truth is that you could put any mix of race/gender artists on this project and it would still be garbage. Wish the video talked about that instead of getting triggered by black people and women.
