Just used this video today on a 15 year old unit that my dad never maintained. This got me my hot water back for free. Thank you so much!

@@MiHeatingGuy The gasket around the flame rod/igniter probes just fell apart on me. What is that fluffy gasket for? Whats it made from? i need a new one and no one in my town sells Rennai parts.
@MiHeatingGuy10 ай бұрын
You should be able to run the unit without that gasket but I would try to order one online. Just prevents air leakage in front of the igniter

Mine is a year old. I cleaned it twice for error code 11. No blocks that you can see. I did the same thing, removed the burner and blew it out. Fixed it, but it gets annoying. Thank you for your video. I thought mine was defective until I saw your video. Now I feel better. Thank you.

Thanks for the video. The video helped convince me that I could check it out myself. I have the Rinnai RL75 and the general layout is very similar to above. The solid metal plate (marked VBFF above) with black screws covering the gas manifold does not need to be removed from the gas manifold main cover behind it. Only remove the gas manifold. to get access to the heat exchanger.

Awesome!!!...thank you so much for this video......It has certainly given me confidence to go ahead and attempt the maintenance. Greatly appreciated!!

Awesome video! It worked for me! No special sealant. Spiders was the issue. Took me about an hour to complete (I'm non-mechanical). Vacuumed out the lines after using some tools to dislodge the cocoons.

Also be sure to check the propane tank gauge before tearing into a tankless unit! Learned from personal experience lol! Seems that when someone quits paying their gas bill it cause code 11 too.

Thank you for posting this. My model was slightly different but the same concept. I pulled out the heater core and blew it out with my air compressor. I reinstalled it and it fired right up. There was debris and dead bugs in it. This saved me a call to the repair man. Thanks again for the great information.

how do you test for the igniter will it click if the unit turns on?

I've lived in a newly built home for three years in an area where the water is considered hard. We don't have any water softener or conditioner yet. Recently we started getting a Code 11 so we called one of two manufacturers service companies. He saw the Code 11 and immediately asked if we'd flushed the unit yet. We hadn't, so he concluded that the Code 11 was due to mineral build-up and wanted us to installs Nuvo H2O water conditioning system to address the issue. I told him we'd wait on the Nuvo for now until I checked on a few things first. I decided to flush the system myself with plain old vinegar. So far everything is working without any problems. The Rinnai RL75 is installed in our garage. Do you think it can also be the burners being clogged? Or can mineral deposits also trigger the code on the display? Thank you for a good video on this piece of equipment. 👍🏽

Yes, the burners and the inducer motor both have to be cleaned, most of the time on a yearly schedule, Please have a trained tech do this for you though, Its a gas fired unit and things can go wrong.

Steve G May I ask how did you solved code 11 issue? I got the same and pro said needing cleaning service also. But I don’t believe him because code 11 is ignition issue. I scratched the ignition rod according to another video and it worked for two weeks. I scratched it again, another two weeks, now I got 11 again. I started to doubt my way. Any help from your experience will be highly helpful because my pro wants to charge $900 for flushing and trouble shooting.

I was about to get a tankless outdoor heater..then I remember this video and all the bugs that get into it. I know one thing about Florida--the bees will find a way in and build a nest right in the device.
@charliestovall99536 жыл бұрын
it will get too hot for bees to make nest in it , I have had two outside heaters for 10 years never had a bug problem.......................JS*
@TomokoAbe_4 жыл бұрын
@@charliestovall9953 These florida bees can adapt to anything, and will get into anything. You can bet on that. So do the ants -- but if they get into the electronics you can bet they will cause a short. You cannot say the electronics "get too hot" because the water heater itself will be destroyed. What you have is a computer inside the tankless water heater.

Never again!!!!! Get one if you enjoy complicating your life! I’ll spend the whopping $25 extra in energy costs to run a NORMAL tank dead reliable hot water heater. I have wasted my time and money on several different makes and models and they all suck!!! I especially love it when the electricity goes out mid shower and the water immediately goes cold, my wife loved that one! If your going to torture yourself with one of these miserable units at least go for the standing pilot unit. I have both and at least those don’t leave you in the cold. Unfortunately I designed my hot water heater cabinet for these darn things so in order to go back to a reliable tank heater it’s a lot of work. Hopefully this reaches someone who’s on the fence about purchasing a tankless and it pushes them to go with a tank water heater.
