Muller had already received a warning (yellow flag). At the finish line, I believe she had no option but to follow that path, but probably it was a bad strategy since the beginning. The safest thing she could have done was to wait for the Italian girl to swim ahead of her and get a bronze medal, but she went for all or nothing and got nothing in the end. It must be insanely tough to decide what to do in one or two seconds, but now she will have to wait another four years if she wants to challenge for an Olympic medal again.

Yeah: a double dutch win - Sharon wins the women's and Ferry Weertman the men's marathon swimming.

When some ignorant people mention that Water Polo is the most demanding sport in the Olympic games (or in any sport), they are WRONG....!!! In all sports, you can take a break once in a while -like in tennis, soccer, football, basket ball, and even marathons...(!)-, but when you are swimming in a lake or a river for 10 thousand meters, there is no break! This is by far..., BY FAR the most demanding sport in the galaxy !! Those swimmers jut keep on going until they finish and there is no bottom where they can stand. Yo stop swimming and you drawn...!

France could have won the bronze but she was too greedy and for that was disqualified I know she wanted to win but she was basically cutting someone else off

2 years later France (without Aurelie Muller) won the bronze medal at the 2018 European Aquatics Championships - team competition, white the gold was for the Netherlands again.

10 Km. ¿Maraton? jajaja Con las nuevas aletas manuales esas distancias son demasiado cortas para nadadores profesionales. La velocidad nadando va a multiplicarse x muchas veces

She held Bruni down at the finish so she (Muller) could finish second. You can see it at 14:11

It is fair that she got disqualified but pretty sad that someone gets so happy about it

I'm glad the judges made that decision to such a scum bag, horrible sportsmanship.

She just had no space to get through 'cause the other girl just locked Muller between her and the mud.. So what did you expect ?? That she let pass her and get 3nd ?? Think and choose your words before spreading bullshit like this. They disqualifed her for only one reason : let the brazilian be on the podium.

Why not?

holly pietrzak beacuse if you look at all the world records set in world swimming the men's time is always quicker, take this event for example, the men finished the 10k in 1.52 and the women finished in 1.56
@batlin6 жыл бұрын
@@jamesnoble246 that's closer than I expected. I guess the raw strength advantage men have has less effect over longer distances... and/or women are slightly more buoyant due to higher fat percentage?
@federicos80824 жыл бұрын
@@batlin you're right. If you take a look at the world records you'll notice that the gap between men and women increases as distance decreases. Also take in consideration that women have a proportionally better aerobic capacity than men whereas men are much stronger and in fact have a huge advantage in shorter distances.
