"Trent is a carpet bomber and Beckham is a laser guided missile", is the funniest yet true thing I've heard in a while
@Danny-iv5uu
@Danny-iv5uu 3 ай бұрын
Trent tangibly statistically ‘carpet bombs’ so many crosses in, actually hit 33 with less than 5 reaching a target in a game. Becks was indescribable to young fans that never saw him live. Even watching on tv you never saw his true talent. He saw passes nobody was seeing,the way Utd and Madrid strikers talk about making runs knowing he would see them no matter where they were or he was. Guy is easily 150 mill today,200 just for his marketing value

@@y-shak1489 WTF GARY NEVILLE THEN??
@JonWilde2105
@JonWilde2105 3 ай бұрын
@@Danny-iv5uu Yup, Beckham was incredible. At the time we thought it was normal a right winger would put a cross on top of a pin head. Because it was normal for Beckham. Plus his free kicks. Plus his defensive work. Plus his character (he was demonised by the English media post 98 - young people forget the absolute hatred the English media drummed up against him and the character he showed in that season) and leadership by example. The guy was a winner. I get some of SH's frustration with Beckham not defending himself more as a player, but also Beckham has evolved above it. He doesn't owe it to anyone. He played for Man Utd, Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG (at 38!). He probably thinks his record as a footballer speaks for itself, and in any case he doesn't define himself by football alone. We're talking about a lad from a working class background (dad fitted kitchens, mum is a hairdresser) whose is now a globally recognised name for non-football fans because of how good he was at football. It's a joke. Beckham got some media attention 25 years ago because he liked to dress well and had a pop star girlfriend in an era of football that was more used to footballers going on the booze, win or lose. But there is no social media of him dancing in the dressing room after a loss. He was old school, just better dressed and with a haircut.

As much as R9 was incredible; there's not a single solo goal I've seen him score that Messi isn't capable of. Meanwhile, what Messi has that both R9 and also CR don't is passing and vision that is up there with any of the best playmakers in history. It's also the frequency with which he has shown that, and the number of chances he has created. This is also with him managing an even better goal to game ratio than CR too. It's just further evidence of why he's a class apart.

In fact Becks was spot on about comparing himself to Trent. In modern game there are no more right midfilders like David, there are wingers cutting inside and fullbacks.
