I think it's because of the expected fake, hollow and ultra simple personalities expected as anchors for the biggest American TV shows. Corden just found out he was really good at it and I suppose the mixture of him being British and a bit overweight added to his charm for audiences as a friendly fun simple character to relate to.

I truly love this skit. James Corden is one of the biggest a-holes in Hollywood and abroad. Keith McNally is my new hero. He's the restauranteur who kicked out James Corden out of his restaurant and has banned him from all of his 25 restaurants for being rude to his wait staff. Keith McNally said that he would reconsider James Corden be allowed back in if he was to sincerely apologize to the wait staff and not him. I feel the same way about Chris Chibnall, I despise him. I will never forgive him for giving us Doctor Karen and The Timeless Children.
