@@Cyraxior Must've been very very hard without any of their memes in it ! Very hard to make them watch anything a bit old.
@wjzav1971 Жыл бұрын
@@Cyraxior I think the problem is that a bunch of the old masters went into retirment and what came after (Friedberg and Seltzer and their XY-movie movies) killed the genre. And attempts since to revive the comedy, and more specifically, the parody genre have failed (see "Holmes and Watson" or "Fifty Shades of Black"). I think what comedy writers nowadays don't get is that to make a comedy, you also have to take the story kind a seriously. Something like Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles had a surprising amount of heart in it and could be seen as straight movies too. And as Noctaru mentioned, meme-culture and the many sketch comedy channels on KZbin, who all do pretty good parodies, might have also changed the sensibilities of the market. Not to mention that many blockbuster films often include comedy (or the attempt thereof). I think making a comedy requires a lot of effort and restraint, the art of doing it right became lost and nobody wants to put in the effort to rediscover it nowadays.

@@wjzav1971 I've come upon the realization of something, whether it's comedy, scifi, whatever, that today's writers and directors know "how", but they don't know "why". Then there's the ever present extreme woke leftist agenda that has "cancered" its way into literally everything.

@@henryslager9406 Yeah I agree that this video is hilarious, and they did a great job with that particular gag. I did think it was funnier in the original movie, because in it the bad guy keeps getting killed in more and more ludicrous, but funny, ways, and after the marching band is done marching over him and he's flattened out like a cartoon character, That's when George Kennedy finally says, "my father went the same way". Also compounded by Leslie Neilsen making a big deal about how he stunned him, so he could stop him in a non-lethal way. I know I didn't need to explain all this to you because you've seen the movies, but I wanted to explain to anyone reading these comments who hasn't seen them.
