I remember when Rogue One came out, I couldn't care less that he sounded old because I knew it was the guy. It always bothered me since I was a kid experiencing other Star Wars media with another actor voicing Vader, knowing James Earl Jones' voice so well, I could always tell when it wasn't him, so when you heard him in RO (and Rebels), it had that much of an impact with the weight of his voice. Even if he was in his 80s, it was HIM, and to me, that was better than any voice impression....

Glad you brought up Thusla Doom from Conan. It's Vader, of course, but he was the nicest CIA director ever in the Jack Ryan trilogy..."this is CNN", coming to America, Mufasa, field of dreams, & the sandlot. Also his innumerable camos & TV. What an enormous talent that James Earl Jones could play the most menacing villain dad of all time also while having the legacy of playing the most fatherly role model as Mufasa. We often say "what a voice he had" but really it was about the acting so much so he's secured his legacy in 2 completely different roles.

Obviously, Vader and Mufasa will be in my mind forever, but my absolute favorite scene of James Earl Jones would have to be from the movie ‘ angriest man in Brooklyn’ where he is a store clerk with a stutter, and Robin Williams is making fun of his stutter and he replies with “F-f-f-f-f-fuck you!” . I remember laughing so hard at that unexpected moment. What a legend.

The first time I became aware of James Earl Jones was Field Of Dreams. He was fantastic in that film and in everything he was in. I remember him best as Mr. Mertle in The Sandlot and as Greer in the Jack Ryan movies he did. It's a bummer he's no longer with us, but I'm glad he made it to his 90s. A lot of celebrities don't make it that far. As far as Spider-Man, the Spiderverse movies aren't really my thing, but I'm definitely looking forward to the 4th live-action one. Getting the director of Shang-Chi to do it is a good choice. That was a great movie. And Mike made me feel less alone about the Dark Knight sequels. I don't like them either for the same reasons he pointed out, including the look of Gotham City. They didn't feel like they were in the same universe as Batman Begins. Not to mention, they're simply depressing and a little pretentious. Also, I would've liked to hear Roxy talk about her date. I'm actually taken aback you didn't want her to talk about it. You usually jump at the chance to hear about that stuff. I hope she's still on on Thursday so she can tell us about it.

I would like to try and recommend to try and get Megan Phelps Roper on your show for a discussion that is similar to what you had with Jillian Michaels as Roper did a series about Rowling and why discussion is important. I fully respect Mike’s opinion on not wanting the Harry Potter reboot because even I was very hesitant. As soon as I saw who they were getting to write and show run and then the idea behind an open casting call I thought was brilliant. I do disagree on his notion of thinking that there needs to be this element to it all where you’re not going to be able to beat the original cast. That should not even be a thought in mind given how separated these two projects are from each other. It’s never be about beating someone else’s prior performance because then that puts pressure on the new actors to think they have to do that.

I’m still excited for the Harry Potter tv series, despite JK Rowling being such a hateful person. There’s so much of the books they left out of the movies. Hermione trying to unionize the house elf’s that work in Hogwarts kitchen, Peeves the Poltergeist, and Voldemort’s backstory! I wanna see it all!
