The resale value for this Tacoma will out weigh the Raptor's lower cost. Plus the box body for this Tacoma is just sick, I'll take this over the Raptor any day.💯

Decisions, decision... $40k Maverick hybrid or this $80k truck (price does not include taxes, fees, advantage dealer installed package that you can't forgo and small dealer markup of $15k.) They should make it PHEV.

How is the transmission programming? That was my chief complaint about the 3rd Gen. I felt like I was always having to force it to downshift just to keep a constant speed. Putting it into ECT PWR helped, but it was a real chore to drive because of the transmission being programmed for max efficiency.

This and the ranger raptor should never be in the dame sentence. The ranger raptor stands on its own as a high performance midsized. Well ford basically owns the performance truck category lol

Ranger Raptor is infinitely better. Get a twin turbo V6 putting out considerable more HP, actually has a backseat (the gimmicky seat absorbers are a joke...right?), and those gloss black fender flares are not going to hold up after off-roading a couple times. Ford for the win, plus it's 10k cheaper than the Tacoma TRD Pro.
@DeuceDeuceBravo2 ай бұрын
Ranger Raptor has more HP but the TRD Pro has more torque.
@layne43762 ай бұрын
@@DeuceDeuceBravo The Tacoma weighs more so you will not get the benefit of that extra torque. For $800 from Ford, you can tune (under warranty) the Raptor to 455 hp.

@@layne4376 Agreed. Just pointing out the power numbers aren't drastically better for the Raptor. And the factory tune requires premium gas for the extra power... That would get very pricey.

Toyota truck family here, several with over 300K. Recently purchased Bronze Oxide TRD Sport non-hybrid. Paid $48K USD with 14" screen and Sport upgrade. Didn't want sunroof or the bad Toyota fake leather. Plan to keep it "forever". Never go off-road, don't tow, pure pavement and dirt road motorcycle hauling. Seeing 20.2 mpg mixed driving. Sorry, don't know what that converts to "Canaaaadian" (said in Yuri's voice). The back seat is not for passengers: great for keeping bike gear out of the elements, bad for hauling humans with legs. Guessing the Pro's seats would make the near-useless back compartment wasted space other than doing a Straight Pipes old school box test. I'm diehard Toyota, but for the Pro's intended use of high speed rough off-roading - and not pure pavement use that I'm guessing most will be used for (driving to craft beer store, going to Influencer party at sunset parked next to Sprinter vans) - I would purchase an older Tacoma or mod a supposedly-less-reliable Ranger Raptor.

if you wanted to keep it forever, should have gotten a 3rd gen. same MPG, better offroad ability, better room inside, actually has bumpstops.
@StinkyYamaLinky2 ай бұрын
@@HAHA.GoodMeme We have all the gens. Third gen Sport given to young nephews who only drive to school and local trailheads. The 4th gen is vastly superior for our trips where a lot of highway miles connect tame dirt roads. The transmission, seating position and adaptive cruise control are night and day better than our previous gens. Changing oil ever 5K and hoping this 4th gen lasts long enough that the nephews' kids will take over.

@@StinkyYamaLinky Yeah, I just traded my 2016 TRD Off Road in on a 2024 TRD Off Road, and it's a better truck in every way. I remember when the 3rd gen first came out people were hating on them too. If you go back and read the comments on the forums or KZbin, everyone was lamenting the 4.0L engine, and the 4 speed auto. Everyone said the 3rd gen was a dud, that the 3.5L engine and 6 speed auto were garbage and they'd be failing left and right..........here we are 8 years later, and all of that was objectively false. Time will tell if this truck is as reliable as that '16 was, but having owned both from new back to back, I can confidently say that the '24 is better in every way.
