AMD isn't doing us favors either by not coming out swinging but sticking to the mainstream market. I fear that because of this, nVidia is going to price their cards even worse than the 40 series and people will lap them up out of brand loyalty and reinforce the " if you build it" mentality.

While I enjoyed my 2 SLI setups, (1 w/980Ti and 1 w/2080), and the performance was there in titles that it was able to be made functional, DLSS has kind of made it moot. RDR2 is a perfect example, where on release was able to get it running in SLI and as a result was able to run at ~70-75fps in 4k Ultra settings. But then the patch released that utilized DLSS, with a click of a button I could now get the same performance from one card that I could with two. For free. So using DLSS I was able to achieve the same if not higher frame rates in RDR2 with 1 card than I was with 2. And performance increase has been fairly consistent across the board from title to title with DLSS where as SLI was kind of a crapshoot because depending on scaling you could get anywhere from 5%-80% extra performance out of the second card, but you never knew what to expect. And then if you use ENBs at all thats a whole other issue because most don't work with SLI or are not compatible with it which is a shame because an ENB can be a one step remaster in some cases. But I get it. Having two GPUs is glorious, it looks glorious, really fills out the case. I'm looking at it right now and I enjoy it greatly. But the reality is I also haven't used the second card in a couple of years, well, for gaming. It still comes in handy but more for model training than gaming.

@darkstar0000000000 In terms of real performance, pure rasterization, SLI was amazing. I had a huge library, and nearly every title either had SLI integration, or one could work around and enable it. It was such a blast. You took two expensive cards and SLI'd them.. but that wasn't where SLI shined. Was it *ideal* on a sheet? Yesh it was because you had high frames running on just one. BUT... There was nothing like taking two GTX 760s. This was when SLI was really hot, 6XX, 7XX, 9XX. SLI was absolutely incredible at its peak. There was nothing like taking two 760s for $500 together and *outperforming* a $999 Titan. It was amazing. You could obtain 760s through easy trades & barters. I ended up getting two in a full PC for installing a full audio system in a car. Well.. that's pretty killer. To run BF4 or Witcher. Hitman. Metro. It was simply awesome. The *value*. I appreciate DLSS, but it will *never * get the credit that full rasterization will, and it will never touch the respect of raw performance for me. It's just not the same.

I have recently joined the 4070 super gang, although it doesn't really get to show it's true colours with my build it's still an upgrade from my 3070ti which was more than enough except the 8GB limit. Running it with my i9 9900k 64GB RAM. I think that's it now for my current rig, I a. Hoping just as my i7 3770 with a 1050ti lasted me a very long and happy life. I will continue enjoying on my current setup for a while.

actually... I sold my 4090 and bought a red devil 7900xtx instead... does exactly what it needs to do. Just gets bottlenecked by unoptimized games, as nvidia pays hefty sums to some companies to have them optimize their games only for NVIDIA products. Yeah....given the 4090 stayed near $2000 since its release, and my 2080 still lets me play most things at 4k/60...im good. I dont play competitive games so having 300fps doesnt matter to me. Through an EVGA trade in program I got two 2080s for 550ea. $1100 for two gpus. I cant even buy a 4080 for that. The cost/value proposition is non existent, and has been since the 30xx series first launched. Sure, Cyberpunk looks better with ray tracing and path tracing, but does it look $2000 better? No, not really. And with NOVA LUT and a few other mods mine doesn't look to shabby either. Certainly doesnt look $2000 worse. I remember a time when Nvidia used to have two arms to its business, the professional and gaming, and once upon a time, you could buy a GPU for viji games and not pay out the ass for it. If you wanted to pay out the nose you got a Quadro card. Wtf happend.
