Toby actually wrote this about his record company in Nashville. They signed him, but he wasn't getting airplay with his music - so, he went back to Oklahoma and joined up with a couple of other guys to form a new record company. His career took off after that!! BTW, Toby's record company first signed Taylor Swift.

I kinda hold Taylor against him. WAY over exposed.
@rhondapearson1118 ай бұрын
When he won for best son or best album I can’t remember which, but when he excepted the award he got up there and he said to his old record company “How do you like me now”. It was the best!!!

@@leitheparsons1186well, if it makes you feel better, Toby may have signed her, but it was touring with George Strait in the beginning that put her on the map
@Lunzatis_Palemoon8 ай бұрын
@@leitheparsons1186Don't blame Toby for Taylor. Instead, blame Taylor for Taylor. Females, in general, haven't been held responsible or accountable for their choices and actions in decades and the consequences of that are little girls pretending to be adults, like Taylor Swift.

His original record company did not think his original music was good and would not put them out. He asked out of his contract and to buy his music back. They said yes. He went across the street and sold his music for more than he bought it back. and signed with someone else. That’s were how do you like me now comes from.

As a fellow Okie and Sooner fan hearing of Toby’s passing hit me in the gut pretty sticking hard. That man LOVED Oklahoma and his Sooners. His cancer diagnosis was a shock and then releasing “Don’t Let The Old Man In” before his passing he knew he had taken a turn for the worse. I’m a metal and rock lover but Toby is my favorite country artist had the fun songs but had those deep cuts too. Rest In Paradise Toby!

Sad to lose such talent at such an early aga. Makes me wonder how long he was bothered by stomach trouble before it finally got so bad he had to see a doctor only to find out it was advanced to stomach cancer. What a blow! There would be more men alive today if they didn’t think it wasn’t manly to see a doctor when they get sick. I’ve probably watched this a dozen times tonight. It reminds me of my husband. The first time I heard it I was with him. He also is gone. To lung/brain cancer. Three years ago. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to being without him.

I had girl that led me on in High school that I really liked and found out that I was of many. 20 years later I was back in my hometown visting my parents. I ran into her and husband in the grocery store. She looked miserable and unattractive. Life had rough on her. She barely wanted to look at me.
