Thanks. I find a lot of tutorials miss out things that seem little but are really key (like in this one what side the mouse is on being really important) and I want to save people that hassle of trial and error.

It's so rarely mentioned in tutorials and for some situations it's amazingly useful. Here being two prime examples.

Amazing tips! The stairs making blew my mind!
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. In reality you'd do it with a bit more care (turn in snapping to edges and then when it's constrained to the Z axis you can make sure its horizontal to the next edge up to make the stairs perfectly straight) but it is way easier.

nicely done, I was thinking to myself, "I wonder which side blender decides to rip?" then you answered. I really like tool tip videos because I can use them even if I don't necessarily need to make vents or shoulder pads

Thank you so much for little tricks like this. There's so many simple things I try to do in Blender that seem they should be obvious, and I'm sure half of them exist already, I just haven't found or heard the tip yet. I've even started going back and watching beginner tutorials now that I know Blender better so I can pick up some of those tips I missed.

With no experience in Blender, ive been trying to make a ''Star Citizen 3D Holoviewer Model'' printable, and its been a learning process, i think after 4 days i'll just have to make my own, yet with dabbling in all the different aspects of repair, and trying this and that, and developed a decent, yet very rudimentary understanding of the basics. Your vids have been great, and this ''vent'' tute is such a coincidence, as i was wondering how to go about it. Kudos

great video series. I find them very helpful. I would like to see a video where you go through taking a mesh cleaning it up to be 3d printable. I have found many meshes where they have inside geometry that needs to be removed but I have not found great methods for cleaning them up. Thank you

What 3d Printer do you recommend for a hobbyist?
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
Thats a tough question as I haven't brought a new one in a while. I have an Anycubic Mono X and some of their new printers are meant to be really good. But it does depend on the size and detail you want to achieve. Id love to get a Mini 8k but I just don't have the spare cash for one at the moment.

@mind_of_a_darkhorse I really like Anycubic. I've had 2 of their printers and never done me wrong. But I know of people that say they have had bad customer service but again the one time I contacted them they were great. Alot of people swear by Elegoo so that's possibly a good choice too.

Excellent. If you want to keep the vents open you could add a Solidify Modifier
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 2 жыл бұрын
In this instance doing that will tend to cause some overlap that's going to cause issues if 3D printing. I'd probably do it the same way as shown but inset the face on the vent "overhang" and extrude it inwards.
@Warloo100
@Warloo100 2 жыл бұрын
@@ArtisansofVaul Hi, those issues could be fixed (imho) by loading your stl's into 3D Buillder (free Microsoft add-on) and have it repaired. Takes some minutes but makes a first rate stl. I use this quite often. But, of course you are right, one would very seldom need open vents on a then hollow model. At least not in smaller scales.
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 2 жыл бұрын
Totally true. I've sung the praises of that program in a previous video. I'm not saying it would do but the overlaps it would create here are actually one of the fee things I've found it to have issues with (though I haven't tried it in this instance). But I think either way I'd rather have the control of extruding the faces myself and it would take less time ik thr long run as its a pretty simple function. But if you wanted the holes to go all the way through the vent its an option for sure 👍🏻
