The main thing I learned from this channel is that if I ever want to have a gate to my house/garden I would 100 % outsource it and have it completely done by someone else, a professional :-D

Not surprised you took out the cupboard in that front entrance. To be honest, I felt it was making the entrance to tight and crowded. However, not being there it's hard to say. Glad you had it removed, and looking forward to seeing it's new appearance. That gate is a total nightmare! Philip has the patience of a saint! (Hopefully that's spelled correctly.) Congratulations on your new door bell!!

My husband and I lived on a sailboat for over a year. It was our infant son's first home. A great experience. However, like with a home, there were many unexpected and expensive cost for upkeep and repairs. So, our family prefers chartering a sailboat and leaving the headaches to the Captain and his crew.

I lived on a yacht for 5 years, around the Pacific and northern Australia. Endless maintenance and expense, chartering would be cheaper and easier! My son was born during that time.

As a retired IT manage i appreciate the cable specifications. Thank you, Phillipp! Also, you could terminate the cable ends with RJ-45 male connecters and use a F/F connector block or a set of F/M connectors. The most professional way to do it is terminate the cable on a RJ-45 punch down block. 👍 The fact that the camera works, 👏👏👏

You cracked me up when you admitted to Anna how much you love these problems to solve (not 😫) Loved Philipp’s input helping out with the removal of the entrance hall cupboard - response from Benoit’s assistant, ‘Get your hands off my bottom’ 🤣 Shame you missed out on the sailing boat. I'm about 9 months behind on your videos so this may already be changed... But I would think you would want the doorbell in a separate call box on the driver side of your entrance rather than the gate could. This would allow your guests to remain in their vehicle while calling to inform you of their arrival, which would be especially appreciate during inclement weather. That said, I'm very impressed with Philipp's resourcefulness when he doesn't have the appropriate supplies!

Our soil is full of clay and rocks. 😅😅 Well done, Phillip! Your tenacity (and genius and good looks, of course) have paid off. And labels, yesss! Your future self will thank you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It must have hurt a bit to tweak the entrance, but I am very glad you did.

I’ve recently discovered your KZbin channel. Your lovely chateau is a tasteful blend of old and new. The similarities between our families are uncanny. We have two grown daughters, Anna and Ella, and a son named Alex. Anna, our artistic daughter, moved to Paris to attend film school, and, since then has built a lucrative career. She met her partner, a quantum physicist and budding do-it-yourselfer from Bavaria, who, like Phillip, has a great sense of humor. They lived in the 18th arrondissement until they had a baby they named Amelia, (nicknamed Lili), now five-years-old. They bought an apartment near the Butte Chaumont and are remodeling it. Our children enjoy home grown food, flower gardens, and renovation projects using repurposed items when possible. Last of all, Anna’s mother and I look alike! Congratulations on your successes. Keep up the good work. .

Philip, You will need to extend the driveway edge just enough to hold that conduit wires into the ground. A rain storm will wash out that soil creating a ditch which will be an unpleasant bump in the driveway when exiting. Perhaps more cobbles will work. Nice job on the driveway and gate, so sorry about the boat, that would have been fun.

Tres Bien Philip! That gate doorbell is an impressive achievement! On the matter of a sailboat… When you are an owner the maintenance is such a huge time commitment. There are coop type arrangements where members own several boats and a commodore is elected every year and the moorage and maintenance are managed by the members. This is gaining popularity here in BC. The smaller ownership groups mean it is relatively easy to get access to a boat when you want. Cheers.
