Man, these things would be good for rescue missions. Those days up north in the winter when a blizzard hits and it's so bad that they have to shut down highways, and any cars on the highway get stranded. Authorities advising that any civilians caught in the storm should rationalize the fuel in their cars to keep warm. Turning their cars on for 15 minutes every hour (or something like that.) These Ripsaws look like they could plow through a blizzard like that no problem. People could do search and rescue in them. Carry some jerry cans of fuel and go looking for stranded cars in the blizzard that are running low on fuel.

I love this machine, my only criticism would be that the steering looks to be delayed slightly probably because of the electronics.
@brendenpischke60606 жыл бұрын
Delayed? Not really. More like it doesn't register until you turn it a certain amount. It's a tracked vehicle of course. It isn't going to be able to make as subtle of changes with steering as a vehicle with steering components that actually rotate like wheels or skis. (Those are my observations anyway. I don't know if they are actually fact.)
@thewhiskeycowboy-official6 жыл бұрын
Why the steering is delayed, for me, does not matter... but yes, it is clearly delayed. And yes, tracked vehicles are able to make subtle changes as easily as wheeled vehicles. It all depends on the input to the breaks on that side. The more efficient and instantaneously the breaks can be applied, the more subtle the changes in steering. It is why you see military tracked vehicles in the hands of skilled drivers be able to dance. That said, the delay in the steering was the only thing that made me cringe when watching the video. That is dangerous, to say the least. And I have driven plenty of tracked vehicles and know there is no need for it. So there seems to be some real adjustment corrections to be made.

I love the fact that it can float and go as fast as it does on water and also being capable of slight dives like a jet ski!!! Impressive on water 💦 as well as land and snow 🌨!!!! would have been nice to see it go through some really deep snow. Get that stuck and you're done
@KJ6EAD5 жыл бұрын
The Ripsaws don't handle deep, fresh snow well; they don't have low enough ground pressure (flotation). To satisfy the goals of high speed and smooth ride while keeping the vehicle in a side by side configuration and narrow enough to be trailered, suspension articulation is maximized which necessitates the tracks being relatively narrow or the cabin being raised above the tracks. Obviously, raising the cabin that high would create a dangerously high center of gravity. Engineering compromises are a hard reality. It would be possible to build a single cockpit or a front/rear dual cockpit with better deep snow capability if desired.
