I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for taking us with you on your journey of strength, sickness and recovery. A year or two ago i decided to get my life together and start taking care of myself and you were a huge inspiration for that, and i even stole some pieces of your free programs. I was overcoming anorexia, and for years and years i went days without eating, surviving on energy drinks and cigarettes. In those 18 months i was able to gain 45 pounds and completely change my mentality. Around 2 months ago i discovered that my years of self abuse had caught up to me and i had developed gum disease on top of a few teeth that were rotting away. I know that i did all of that to myself, i take full responsibility, but watching you never give up and push through your worst of days has truly helped keep my eye on the prize. Ive lost almost all of the gains i worked for, eating became quite difficult, but my surgeries and appointments are fast approaching and i cant wait to be able to chew food again and get back out there. Thank you again for the service you provide. You do more good than you think.

Tip for your bands: try using a luggage scale or fish scale. They have a hook and will measure the force of the band resistance at various heights. Cheap ones like mine are $10 and measure 110lbs, heavy duty ones can be $50+ and measure 300lbs. ...if you are anal enough to know your exact band tension at top and bottom like me!

You are killing these workouts!! No one watching these videos has an excuse to miss a workout. You continue to grind even when sick. I was watching an old video about the conjugate programming and your voice was super deep, the energy was so low and you looked unwell, but there you were still putting out good content. 👍🏻. Now compare your recent videos, where your energy is super high and you’re looking healthy; I’d say it’s a complete 180. You have shown great improvement. You are on the right track!!

Glad my favorite strongman is coming back and better! I also have a question for you, big guy. My obliques don't really respond well to tradition weight training and I don't have the core strength for more advanced moves like the windshield wipers. I do have a Rogue Strongman sandbag that's sitting at about 240-ish lbs. When I clean it and walk with it on a shoulder for about 20 feet, my obliques get hit so HARD. Do you have any other oblique variations? Keep up the amazing work too! You've motivated me so MANY times when times got rough.

Hey Brian, I felt the same with the straps. I always seem to lock in a lot better with the one hand supinated grip in the deadlift compare to using straps with the double over hand grip. It tends to make me confused as to should I wear straps at all for it, especially when I do the rep deadlift event. I felt I am losing tightness as the rep goes if I went double overhand with straps, everyone seems to do better with it 😅
@ShootLiegh5 жыл бұрын

Brian do you think you would every be interested in collaborating with Alan Thrall and Barbell Medicine to write a strongman template for Barbell Medicine? I think that would be cool. I've ran your powerbuilding template in the past with great results and I am starting the BBM Powerbuilding II template today and they have a really cool approach to using technology to track progess and it would be cool to see a strongman-focused template on their platform. I don't want to insult the way you outline your programs, they are very good and I know you work hard on programming. BBM just has a cool template platform using Excel spreadsheets that track progress and log numbers and data. Glad you are feeling better.

First of I'm the same way on the Deadlifts I pull more with one hand over. Also Brain whats your advice on a person making massive weight cuts. For example I have decided to cut weight for a year and my upper body lifts have suffered, while my lower body lifts have started to come back. I currently set at 195 and a year ago I was at 290 and I feel like I have lost a lot of strength, so my question is should I just try to maintain my strength while I cut my final 20 lbs and then refocus on building after my last part of my cut?
