Best Lyrics: Death of a Strawberry Heaviest: Shark Dad Most Creative: Eagle vs. Crows Most Epic: Variation Best Overall: Awkward

Hauntsy Wauntsy Yeah I'm gonna say I pretty much agree but I feel Best Overall and Most Epic should be Awkward because no one knew it was going to get that awesome and epic when Jon comes in
@hauntsywauntsy9 жыл бұрын
It is epic for that part, I just chose Variation because of Tillian's highs and the overall triumphant mood that the song creates all throughout.

Stroke God is definitely the one I would have liked to add to this list. Best chorus for sure.

"Just wanted to say something about 'Awkward'. The verses are meant to be sarcastic. The chorus is meant to be from the viewpoint of your oppressors/doubters. Please don't feel the need to ever thank anyone for doubting you unless it fuels you to be yourself and know what you know. There's no honor in making yourself smaller or doubting your abilities. The lyrics to the song are meant as a warning. In life you come across 'friends' who try to put you down or humble you "for your own good". Fuck them. They aren't your friends" -Tilian Pearson

I didn’t know people misunderstood the lyrics. I thought the meaning of the lyrics was obvious, but maybe that’s just cause I’ve experienced it before and listened to this album a lot during that time.
@cat_boy29214 жыл бұрын
I’ve suffered a life of social anxiety, these lyrics made a lot of sense to me when I relayed them to myself. I grew suicidal when overwhelmed with the feeling of a lifetime of just being the “awkward” kid to everyone. “Don’t make this awkward” is something I’ve heard too many times from others and myself, to the point where I grew comfort in this awkwardness. “show me how to doubt myself, who knows where I’ll be without you?” It makes me so happy to hear Tilian say this. Fuck the haters
@cadequillion52764 жыл бұрын
@@cat_boy2921 Hell yeah, same feeling I had when I first heard this song. Why would you try to make yourself small for people that don't really care for you and make you feel like you have to "earn" their respect to them. Fuck that, you don't need to validate yourself to anyone!

DGD is always pretty introspective in that they refuse to take themselves too seriously and often make fun of themselves in their lyrics or just screw around injecting nonsense (jon mess AHEM) but this is a whole new level. The emotional complexity and introspection of being a band member is just a breath of fresh air and a punch in the gut at the same time.

I feel these lyrics deep in my abdomen, in a place of more depth than my heart. Somewhere I can’t quite put a finger on. It doesn’t exist anywhere in anyway that can be observed. Not by beings who’s limited experience is subject to a realm of physical expression. Despite a lack of supporting evidence, I believe the feelings provoked by this song exists in a place some call the Soul.♥️🤟🎵🔊

Tillian now has 4 albums with the band under his belt, more than any other DGD lead vocalist, they have a solidified line up and have done nothing but progressed with each release, they are an unstoppable force of amazing music and I can't wait to hear what these musical geniuses come up with in the years to come. They've already done so much but imo this is only the beginning, these guys basically are on their way to have a legacy that will make them The Beatles of this era, or something even greater than that, they are fucking pioneers haha

Alex K its funny seeing people jump on the wagon so late, considering many of us have been out here since around 05 and knew how amazing they were from the very beginning. I've always called Swan the Hendrix of our generation. May be kinda crazy but his style is so different and funky. Good for DGD they deserve all the respect in the world for what they've created over the years.
