@robertmills3462 I without any hesitation give credit to hands like houses for getting me getting off of fentanyl pills. When I was kicking I'd listen to don't look now and fountainhead and the lyrics and symphonic band just filled me with drive and hope. Last Friday I met 2 of my states senators and the us secretary of energy as a sort of representative of my employer. I listened to fountainhead and 5 htp by intervals on a loop the half hour leading up to the meeting and news walk through. I've been clean about 16 months and this music has undisputedly given me the drive and optimism to make all of my aspirations come to fruition. I took infinity from the sky and I made it my own.

Everyone is comparing this song or band to someone else and is overlooking the immense story behind the song. There are so many metaphors and paradoxes that they are singing about but no one picks up on it. It takes two souls to break the laws of mathematics and science. the will to live can only be eliminated by some force other than ourselves, in this case, a broken heart from someone he truly loved. the doctors say he is perfectly fine but the soul defies that conclusion and will still die. Love is the ultimate law of the universe and if we cannot share it or are too ignorant to notice it and appreciate it then all hope is lost. This song is legendary, and pure genius. Well done.

They say they’re making the stuff they want to make. They always have, and that’s why each and every album is VASTLY different. Trenton says he and the band writes about how they feel in that moment, so any kind of music from them seems possible. They are very unpredictable as a band because they change so often. The recent change I feel also has to do with their contention with where they are as a band, so it’s like a calm within the storm. Also, I’m sure touring has had a toll on them all, but most notably Trenton. If you go back and listen to their old live videos it seems like he hits the notes much easier, and doesn’t have as much trouble with voice cracks and the like. I mean they’re not 22 anymore haha. They’re all in their 30’s and with the maturity and experience they’ve gained they’ve always chosen to take new routes in their music. I doubt they’ll ever go back to being this heavy, but they could. It just may take another toll on Trentons voice, sadly.

I love this song. after finally seeing them live for the first time In 3 years I can say his voice isn't autotunned. it just pure talent. the other members are just as good. Matt drummed like a beast. he had one mess up but that didn't stop trenton from going. this band has just been the greatest thing for the passed three years. I will always love them. it is amazing how after 3 years this song still sounds like a masterpiece. I wish everyone could feel the way I do when I hear any of their songs. they are 5 genuine down to earth guys who love music and love spreading a message. go to one of their concerts, buy their albums and merch. all that money Is going to these talented friends which helps them make more music like this. in the end enjoy this band now. if this is your first time listen to every song. and really understand the meaning of the songs, sing and headbang to them. just never take them for granted. #DissonantForever

Another take I have found in the message of this story is about Life and the collisions of life that harms us but no body can see the injuries left on our hearts and souls and minds. It can be a good message for people who are struggling with mental disorders where no one can diagnose their problems or help them figure out what's wrong. People with mental disorders struggle and have internal injuries that don't show up on your xrays or scans or bloodwork. I have found a lot of closure in my life and feel people might understand what others are going through and this song is a message of that. If it weren't for this band and the messages of their music, I would have believed myself to be alone in so many ways. A lot of my friends who have mental disorders as well have said this song brings them comfort in knowing that people might actually understand the everyday struggles and collisions we all face.

People think of this music video too linearly. Imagine for a moment that this song sings of two stories instead of one. You have two people who used to know each other, but drifted apart. Let's assume they were childhood friends, but due to unforeseen circumstances the girl had to move away. Years go by, they eventually lose contact with each other, but continue to live their own lives. One day she gets a phone call, and it turns out the boy got into a horrific accident, one that the doctors weren't able to bring him back from. She hurries to his childhood home, finding the doors unlocked and the house mostly broken down and empty, aside from a few specific things that she remembers from their childhood together. The emotional scarring hurts, but at the same time it helps her to reconnect with him, even in death.

Where in this song do you hear PTV or SWS? Not that there's anything wrong with those bands but some of you people act like their the only bands in the genre which is far from true. PTV sounds much more melancholy and dark/depressing and SWS is far more angsty/soft depending on what album you're talking about. And I forget this lead singers name, but is voice is nowhere near as high as Vic's or Kellin's and he has a much larger vocal range. Out of all the bands I listen to, HLH has to be one of the most original. I've never heard anything like them and can't think of single band that sounds like them. I don't even know what genre to classify them as? Rock, obviously, but not metal, post-hardcore, punk, pop-punk, etc.

Ya know, they're not wrong. There's similarities to be sure. In my opinion, they more closely resemble Helmet. dat vocal range though, sometimes cringe worthy, but gotta give him credit (despite not hearing him live...) Normally like melodeath, but love the feeling from this band among other post hardcore bands. Generally, this genre is a cash cow but bands like this give me hope with quality lyrical content. Can't tell if I'd prefer screams, because they do a pretty good job at making it work without em. Good band. Lion Skin is probably their best song

As an American kid, I spent time being sick in Australia. It was later in life I was cab driver and one of my customers was from an Australian band called Hands like houses. I played a cd of The saints first self titled album.

I wish their 3rd album Dissonants (out now) would've sounded emotional and had more feeling like these old songs they made. To me, now Dissonants sounds pretty damn generic and like all the other bands out there. Dissonants is a disappointment, but it isn't that bad.

You think that they would make a music video with a hospital or doctor theme instead of some haunted mansion theme. Hell, most of the lyrics are saying things like how we need to peel back the dressings (which in this case is the covering of a persons emotional wounds), but the "Doctors" don't know what's killing him (who in this case is the singer talking about said emotional wounds) Lyrics that talk about blood work, doctors, surgeons, dressings, anaesthetics... And they go for ghosts and poltergeists. Where the Hell does someone make that kind of connection?! That's like a song about... Fuck I don't know, getting over a bad relationship, and making the music video involve someone playing a game of Texas Hold'em. If the lyrics are making clear references or metaphors of a certain theme, keep the music video related to that theme. Don't make the video so cryptic and stretched in imagery that it loses any form of connection to what the song's singing about.

+spastickid218 You're thinking of it too linearly. Imagine for a moment that this song sings of two stories instead of one. You have two people who used to know eachother, but drifted apart. Let's assume they were childhood friends, but due to unforeseen circumstances the female had to move away. Years go by, they eventually lose contact with eachother, but continue to live in their own ways.

All I know is, I walked into the Concert and all I heard was awesome vocals. Came around the corner and saw them playing. they sound exactly like they do on the music video.

From 1:15 onward, the drums are just awesome. First time I heard of this song was June of 2012 while listening to Pandora on my phone in the waiting room while my grandma was in surgery. To this day this song reminds me of that day. The surgeons removed the cancer and my grandma is STILL cancer free. But my heart sank when another surgeon had to tell a family their grandmother wasn't so lucky. It still haunts me.

I agree that Hands Like Houses are better than Pierce the Veil, but I still think PTV are a great band. It seems that "annoying fangirls" and Vic Fuentes' singing voice are the only reasons for the hate, and to me that's just silly.
