I guess business are interested in ESG, but it seems to me that ESG doctrines themselves are a risk, channeling business into the dark corner of the UN's unfreedom. ESG brings coercive political concepts into business.

Hi, thanks for sharing your perspective. You're right that some view ESG as an unnecessary restriction of trade (a threat), where others see it as a way to improve performance and delivery to stakeholders (an opportunity). Perhaps it's both potentially, and it depends on how you implement it. Time will tell...!

As a risk academic I agree very strongly with dagwould. ESG is an elite power strategy... and it brings enormous societal risk. If still in any doubt about this after consulting a Dutch, German or Irish farmer on the subject, then Just look at the WEF global risk reports. The key global risks they will never ever talk about are the 'internal' risks they create themselves. It's the old story, from Mary Douglas and culture theory: power tells us what risks we are supposed to take seriously and what risks we should be punished for even thinking of ! @@Risk-Doctor
