On that all Black boat, it is quite different as it is a Race Boat and the whole wheelhouse is inside that cabin so that when/if the boat flips, that enclosed section comes separate and doesn't sink. Captain Keith

Most people think they can swim well until your unconscious. Anytime my engine was on, I made everyone on the boat put on a life jacket. If you did not wear it, you just dont go. I even made non-swimmers keep theirs on the entire outing. These were vest devices so not like they were bulky or anything. Some people just think they look dumb in them as their life now hangs in their decision to look cool unless they are dead

Alternatively, you could wear harnesses that clip into lifelines, especially if you're far out.

Pfd on the kids, none on the adults. So kid goes in, adult jumps in to save them. Adult drowns, kid doesn't.....

In Australia it is LAW for everyone to wear a PFD when crossing a bar. NO EXCEPTIONS !
