very good and simple example. I think you missed the importance of the reason why we are doing a SIPOC. Also, I would have given an example whose outcomes can be used for a better description and understanding, eventually having an example that uses different (and practical) customers. other than that, I agree with those who stated this is the best SIPOC table so far

For anyone curious, in case you are wondering what the acronym SIPOC stands for. SIPOC stands for Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, and Customers. It is a business process mapping technique that helps to identify the key elements of a process from start to finish. Here's what each component represents: Suppliers: The entities (individuals, organizations, or systems) that provide the inputs necessary for the process. Inputs: The materials, information, or resources that are required to execute the process. Process: The series of steps or activities that convert the inputs into outputs. Outputs: The products, services, or results that are produced by the process. Customers: The end users or recipients of the outputs of the process. SIPOC is often used during process improvement initiatives, such as Six Sigma or Lean, to provide a high-level overview of a process and ensure all critical components are considered.

Amazingly well explained, I’m a self taught developer and at a junior role in my new career, I’m 33, I do wish to transition to management, could you tell me if all this relates well to IT or if there is something specific IT people should focus on ?
@risrcareers Жыл бұрын
This is a good way to understand process overview irrespective of function. It is not IT-specific however. If you are unfamiliar with scrum and agile then I suggest you add this knowledge for starters, and then focus on the topic of management and leadership. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the positive feedback! Please consider that I have achieved over 5,000 subscribers with only 9 published videos, and that each video is designed as “evergreen” content that gains more views over time vs “viral” content that gains many more initial views but then dies. Based on its current run and growth rates, I expect that this video for example will achieve at least 30-50k views by end 2024, and more over time. This is meeting all of my expectations based on audience demographics, type of content, and length. In conclusion, for exponential growth, all indications are that I simply need to make more videos!! Stay tuned… lots more to come! If there’s anything specific you feel I could do beyond this, please let me know 🙏

Thank you very much Sir. Subscribed This is great info. You mentioned it's better to keep the main steps of the process simple. If you are one person versus having a group go over this high level view, would it be advisable to go into a little more detail? Thank you.
@risrcareers2 жыл бұрын
It’s the same for one person - the idea is that it’s an overview only. It provides insights to then deep dive into further investigation via detailed process mapping and/or root cause analysis. If you already know your pain points and have a good understanding of your process overview, then I’d suggest skipping the SIPOC and moving to that detailed analysis. Hope that helps!

Can SIPOC be used to analyse AS-IS and TO-BE for an organization, if yes how?
@risrcareers Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s an overview, describing certain characteristics. It doesn’t really describe the flow, just the steps and information around those steps. I’d personally use something that describes the process flows, like a swim lane diagram, for current vs future state. 👍

Is it posible to look at inefficiencies without describing the steps. I think going into steps is time consuming
@risrcareers9 ай бұрын
Yes it is, but all depends on the problem you’re trying to solve. This is a tool that’s useful to get a sense of the process as an holistic overview. Generally speaking, a process map (flow diagram) - which is somewhat different from this - is a good starting point to understand process inefficiencies, but that also takes effort. Sometimes inefficiencies are very apparent and can be worked on without the need to map. But you might still need to do a bit of work to understand and fix the causes. Very difficult to answer properly without actually seeing the problem/opportunity in detail. There will be more episodes on this topic and how to solve problems of inefficiencies and ineffectiveness, so stay tuned!
