Deep inside everybody knows he's one of the best but most refused to acknowledge and give him the recognition.
@NyeGuy-yv2dv4 жыл бұрын
He is good but not very innovative when compared to EVH. Ritchie always came off annoyed in his playing and that single coil picket up really lacks tone. That said he is one of the fathers of modern rock guitar.
@anonymusum4 жыл бұрын
@@NyeGuy-yv2dv Not innovative? Then listen to the first 2 Purple albums, no guitar player played like that in the days. Listen to his solos on Kentucky Woman for example. There he played some lines EVH would have dreamt of. EVH was a good player of course, but he was way too much on a effect trip. You hardly hear any convincing melody lines in his solos. So it´s impossible to compare them.
@ScienceTalkwithJimMassa3 жыл бұрын
@@NyeGuy-yv2dv A statement issued from someone who knows not what they say. Ritchie has done things (which I have personally witnessed) that are mind blowing, that all these shredders that everyone talks about wish they could do. As to not innovative. Give me a break. He invented the sweeping technique and the use of volume control to create a cello effect among other things. Listen to live Stargazer and then try to tell us he was not innovative. Unlike many players who play scales for solos (boring. hell let's listen to a guy practice, no thank you), he crafts solos that are memorable, that suit the music. And his tone... amazing, distinctive and instant. A couple of notes and you know it's him playing. You sure, you are listening to the same guitarist? And his technique is phenomenal. Geez.
@kjeldlarsen9123 жыл бұрын
Well ......that like your opinion ......
@angusorvid88403 жыл бұрын
@@NyeGuy-yv2dv He was innovative in bringing a classical edge to rock and also a great showman, of course. His technique was also far ahead of anything else at the time as well. I think the reason he played single coil strats is he liked the way single coils pop for his style. Same thing with Yngwie. I've always been a humbucker player, but I have friends who will not play anything but strats because it's the tone they love, what they hear in their head when they think of guitar. There were two kinds of rock guitarists in the 60s and 70s. Those who wanted more distortion and those who were okay on the cleaner side of things. Ritchie was more into going for volume and letting volume make his thin strat sound big.

No one can replace Blackmore as the deep purple guitarist, as great as Steve morse and Simon Mcbride are, the one thing that separates Blackmore is his improvisation, he’s not only one of the greatest guitarists ever but he’s certainly the greatest improviser!!

This version of purple was pure magic, they created hard rock as a genre, an incredible mix of blues and classical music propelling the technology of the day. Ian's screams have always had that "silver throated" unique texture with power and control, Roger was the best possible bass player to pair with the incredible Paicey (rightly recognised as one of the best of all time). As for Jon and Ritchie... well there's just some musicians which are beyond any comparison... Ritchie's flair made him a force of nature rather than a musican. I'm so grateful to have had their music in my life and to have seen them live. Don't diss Ritchie's limitations technically vs. today's top players, I love that he was open and fearless in his attempts to push his limits, and on more than a few occasions he was able to channel the universe and create miracles. Btw, some of his more polished technical playing is a match for any, but genius lies beyond, and he was definitely able to reach across to the other side.

Funny thing about Ritchie Blackmore is this: Among those who actually seriously play guitar his influence, style, and over all abilities are greatly understood as just flat out incredible. For the people who don't play or those who claim to play but in reality just happen to own a guitar he's often completely underappreciated.

This is a three year old post and and seemingly zero replays.i replied in respect that he received little allocade's.I had carried on about how a lot of performers tour plastered because it the unreality of the lifestyle itself (jet lag, meeting deadlines ,and just plain strange hours for a very long time period).this guy does not receive enough credit though. I'm thinking the guy is an example of guitar and man. No frills. No echo. No reverb. No phazors. No wah pedals. Really no distortion boxes (just drive into natural distortion) natural distortion which equates to emotion,attitude,extreme passion.He has a grasp of elements more than most people. He is kind enough to share them with us. He does deserve credit.

@kurtsherrick20663 жыл бұрын
The thing about Ritchie he can be so clean and again he plays great distortion. He said when he plays lies he makes a intentional mistake to let everyone it is the real deal. I just assumed because in the late sixties and early seventies there was so much lip singing and bands acting like they were performing live to the studio versions on TV. He has a so messy stuff that sounds fantastic. He was all over the place. I watch his Accustic Playing in Blackmore's Night that is so clean, perfect and enchantingly beautiful. He is so gifted. To me the best.

A tempestuous artist, very demanding and critical of himself and those around him. He hasn't always made great records, there's a ratio of hit and miss as you go through his catalogue, but whether his records have sold or not, he gives compelling performances for where he finds himself at that moment. He dislikes the studio environment, preferring instead the live arena where he can play by his wits faults and all. As a person he remains an enigma.

@@roughnight Nothing compares to Made In Japan. It is without a doubt the best and greatest live album in History. The energy of the Album is unmatched. It contains the two greatest solos recorded on Vinyl. The Vocal work on Child In Time with Ritchie's Solo is phenomenal. Then you add the original Energizer Bunny Ian Paice with the drumming kicks ass. Jon's Hammond Sound was cutting edge. To pick a top ten list of the best live albums is very difficult because there are so many in the early to mid seventies. But #1 is a easy pick.
