The last two songs from the main show, a beautiful rendition of the Blackmore's Night song "Carry on... Jon" and then a fiery version of Deep Purple's "Burn".

This is the first recent Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow clip that I’ve seen where he’s close to his past magic and clearly into it. His playing style has mellowed and it’s clear he’s into slower pace and more expression. He does a really good job here and sounds solid even on Burn - great solo especially in the fast section and great sound.

Close to his past magic? In your dreams. Burn sounds like a cover band, and Ritchie is a million miles away from his past magic. I have seen him 12-14 times with rainbow, purple and the first years with the blacmores night stuff where he still grabbed the white stratocaster when it came to him. This band is a galaxy away from the purple level - on all positions! If you doubt me - listen to this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmXJdXatec6KgLM

@@MrRolle27 But this is probably the best it's gonna get for him. Their first shows were pretty bad, but RB is coming around and his tone is getting better as well. He'll never be his 1975 self again, but this is pretty good, all things considered.

@@thetruthhurts6652 Your own points are the exact reason why I keep Blackmore Live in my past tense, not in my present tense. Why would I pay Turbo Ben Johnson to run the 100-meter dash in 16.23 seconds? When it comes to Ritchies current guitar play his has no hair, teeth or magic. If that is good enough for you - be my guest - I am out. Not going to ruin the magic I took with me from the many great shows in the 70,80 and 90’s.

Ritchie's most beautiful and melodic tune for many years. Fitting it should be dedicated to Jon. If you haven't yet caught it, look for an interview with Jon, where he's asked about specific Purple tunes. He's never less than honest to each answer. Some go along the lines of, " another brilliant Blackmore riff, and expounds on the prolific ability of Ritchie to to come up with brilliant guitar parts to carry the songs. The lyrics? Well, what is a Stormbringer anyway ? I haven't a bloody clue. Powerful song, but the lyrics aren't really my cup of tea". Never puts down anybody, though he'll say what was trying, especially in the dying days of the late 70's, and is indeed fond of all Purple eras in many ways. Always quick to point out the talent Richie possesses. Yes, he was sometimes difficult, but never less than a driving force that carried Purple to the top. And, of course- doesn't mention his own stellar contributions. A Prince of a man, with incredibly prodigious talent, who is admired universally, and influenced millions. Always a Gentleman first, and Rock Star second. He found the Pearly Gates wide open with St Peter welcoming him warmly. I'd imagine St Pete appreciates the easy decisions. He hangs with Leon Russell and a stellar group of like minded folks by day, and plays 3 or 4 times a week with St. Pete's house band. Jams with Jimi, Jaco, and Rory and never fails to go by Beethoven's place, says he's just checking on him, but will trade some licks on most days. He's used to moody guys.

Deep Purple- (1968 - 2002) RIP

This is how musicians show respect and remember one another. They went through a lot together (with Ian Paice) and managed against the odds to create magic. When I heard about Jon's old residence at Gunter Grove I expected a bedsit: when I saw it, it looked like somewhere an Oxford don would live. Talk about posh. They had a standard, even in the way they dressed, as David Coverdale found out when he arrived from Redcar wearing a dodgy suit. RIP Jon, and thank you.

Thank you so much Blackie I knew you still had it in you. It's just some of the stuff the Blackmore has been putting out lately on KZbin it looks like he's been shot with a tranquilizer dart I'm so happy to hear and see him still Shred. I hope I'm still alive but 74 in my heart he's the best guitarist to ever walk this planet
@ThePaulv125 жыл бұрын
C'mon? Raise your standards a bit. He's great but the best to ever walk the planet tells me you need to get out a bit more lol : ) Robert Fripp is a pretty good too isn't he? These are just mainstream guys; what about all the 'newcomers' in the last 30 or so years that are technically amazing (even if their music isn't necessarily to one's taste)?? There are just so very many truly excellent guitarists out there and RB just one of them. The world of classical guitarists are not rock guitarists for sure but in that world I like Julian Bream. He's getting on a bit the 'ole Julian but he had a series in the 1980s Guitarra - The Guitar in Spain. Compared to 19th Century Spanish guitarists I'm unsure if he is even in the running. Julian seems to show a lack of strong ego as a soloist that allows an interpretation of any music he plays to show its intrinsic qualities. He really is very good. Check him out instructing these highly skilled but over anxious students. Check out what he says to the first student who has a position with a Philharmonic Orchestra! He plays Villa Lobos Prelude No1 himself and makes the student look like an amateur. It isn't a particularly difficult piece technically but the deep understanding the Bream has of Heitor Villa Lobos the composer and what he is trying to achieve is the point: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3K7hq1_p9qeqpI From another soloist how about this reasonable well known piece?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b53JimafedN1d68

El rock'n roll no es la única música que existe. La música barroca y medieval que estaban en la base de Purple son fantásticamente desarrollados por Ritchie y Candice, me parece una banda hermosa. Carry on me parece una belleza espectacular, aunque Burn me pareció tan sólo 6 puntos.
