Well this one was a doozy! Which song do you prefer, This is the Beat or Mean Girls Rule? Any thoughts on how Riven acted this episode?

Definitely This is the Beat. And frankly I have to agree with your stance on Riven. He was one of my favorite characters across the series because I kind of related to him in a way (even though I'm female) with the internal battles he was going through. Though I didn't like the whole relationship with Darcy thing lol.

MGR, easily. But after rewatching the episode, it was really weird for Bloom to say "we were just playing around" after she told him off and embarassed him for being a creep. 4kids could've had Bloom tell Riven that she was kidding about what she said about Musa.

musa does actually have sonar powers in the original, though like the 4kids dub, they're only mentioned in passing - in 2x11, tecna asks musa if she can use it to find tune and digit.

Considering Riven's background, it's a shame that the specialists and the winx were never able to help him overcome his sexism and lone wolf attitude and trust issues.

Yeah true, they kept bullying him and teasing him instead. Though what background are you talking about? I only watched seasons 1-4 so is there some arc about his past in seasons 5-8?

I just can't stand the Cinelume version. All of the voiceacting is barely even acted. The 4kids version actually added variety in all of the voices and the actors actually... ACTED. Sure, some of the diagloue is a bit more "kid-friendly" and full of references, even cringey at times too, but it was performed SO MUCH BETTER than any other dub, not just the Cinelume one.

Eh, I prefer the cinelume more natural dialog sound and the voices for the characters are perfect for their age and personalities imo

What is this 'Cinelume' version you mentioned? I grew up with the 4kids and nickelodeon versions and didn't hear about it being Italian until much later. But I've never heard of Cinelume.

It's the Canadian dub of the series that came out around the same time as 4Kids, but it was more faithful to the source material. It's also called the Rai English version if you search for it on KZbin.

Thank you for the Riven character study 👍 Also, yeah I never liked Musa and Riven's relationship, but my headcanon Musa felt like an outcast because of an insecurity about her femininity and he was an insecure jerk who is into NLOGs so she felt accepted by him since he was the only guy into her and her only option and she didn't want to stay single when all the other girls (minus Flora) had boyfriends. When she accepts her feminine side and becomes softer in later seasons and gains confidence and starts thinking of herself more on a higher ground pursing her dreams and being her true self, she realizes Riven isn't the one for her because he's selfish and insecure (after they retconed his character development in seasons 3 & 4) but she still has no other options until season 4 Jason appeared, she clearly wants a kind understanding guy who respects her hobby, passion and dream but Riven wasn't that one, until he later learns music and sings a song for her which was why they got back together again. Because he finally understood her and softened up a bit and started to think of her. But in later seasons by Nickelodeon idk what happened exactly but they break up so I assume he went back into his old ways and she was finally done and decided to dump his ass but at least be friends with him so he doesn't go back into being a mean insecure outcast jerk. Then in season 8 they get back together after he finally does some retrospect into himself and becomes a normal nice person. If it wasn't for the character development I wouldn't have accepted their relationship in season 8. Because I think Musa and Aisha are a better pair lol

The only I like about this episode of Winx Club is Bloom roasted Riven. It's really good.
