Just ordered my Rosco Platypus! Very excited about it. Researching it led me to your channel and learning about your shop. Good stuff. Thank you for putting out this content. I’ve been an All City guy and now Rivendell too. I gladly subbed and will be tuning in

I'm in the UK and proud owner of an A. Homer Hilsen, found in the back of the warehouse just before Christmas. My route to Rivendell- Surly Bikes Singular Cycles (Gryphon) Genesis (UK, Vagabond) Bikepacking Ultraromance Crust Rivendell Plus hundreds of other nuanced dead-ends. I jumped on the Homer when the Crust Romanceur sold out (time difference issues) and another bike I really liked had a 9 month delivery...and I was already stir crazy from the stagnation of Corona Virus lockdown. All in all, the A.H.H. is a magic carpet of a bike!

The Homer was my first Riv as well. Great bike!

I own a Platypus, and it is a great ride.

This style is what I saw a lot in Copenhagen. Folks ride to work and when they ride to work they wear their work clothes. Not super crazy for the brakes on the Cheviot....but I don't commute loaded on it anymore so.....

You can spot a “Riv” a mile away. Well, you know. Gorgeous top (tube) to bottom (bracket).

I think the reality is a lot more of us short and we'd like to admit to, I look through secondhand bikes all the time and it seems lightly at all for 5 foot 10 and above. Plus a lot of us have wonky hips so a step through is not a bad goal. It's hell getting any frame like that in Australia

I’d be willing to bet my friends at Blue Lug would be happy to send you one.

{le sigh} So pretty. It's in the top three of my dream bikes. Platypus, Polyvalent Low Kicker, or Rodriguez Adventure step through. The advantage of the latter two is they will take 26" wheels. Any of them will cost $2 - $3000 to build up, so I can feel free to admire and dream. Thanks for the review.

Sweet review. I had a Betty fly 2013,,,yup, I rode ride Idaho, two ragbrais on it no prob, my longest day 105 on it. In 2019 got rid of all but one bike as lived in tiny tear drop trailer and minivan. I so miss Betty so am on the wait list for platypus 60. Question, I see your set up as 1x which is exactly what’s I want to do now,,,what derailed you have on back, cassette,? If you don’t mind sharing your build. Thanks in advance, Audrey

Hello Audrey, I used the AdventX 10 speed on that one. 11-46 in the rear.

Thanks for the review. Lots of buzz on the Rivendell bike group about this model for sure. Do you expect any more Bridge Clubs in blue?
@ThePsychicDerailleur3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug. No more blue. I have it on pretty good authority that “illegal smile” is coming back in ‘22

@@ThePsychicDerailleur I like Illegal Smile better than the blue. Thanks for the info

@@ThePsychicDerailleur I'm still thrilled I managed to find a lightly used Diving Board Blue in my size. It's my favorite bike.

What's the difference between a Sam Hillborn and a Homer?
@ThePsychicDerailleur Жыл бұрын
Sam is built from slightly heavier tubing and will carry a bit more load.

Love my Platypus but as a note it's Chee-viot (hills in Northumberland, UK) pronounced as in Cheese.

That Platypus is gorgeous! Why did you "disappear" your Cheviot, Chris? I liked them and almost bought one but decided on the Atlantis because go the added versatility.

I found myself in a common situation. Too many bikes. I was primarily riding my Bridge Club and sold off some of the rest. There are always more bikes! You’re right, it is a looker!
