Nice vid, Rob. My tripod I often use at The Severn is also used here in Norfolk for pike, often with bite alarms, and the rods poking upwards.
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Cheers Gary - My pod and alarms are in play when I fish into the dark also. Good luck chasing down a few decent crocs this winter 👍🎣

Good video mate, and nice Pike as well. I was on the river Friday, managed one at about 14lb, but they seem to be a bit finicky at the moment. Tight lines, subbed
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks Luke. Subbed back also - Hopefully this weekends weather will liven them up a bit 👍🎣

I really enjoyed this . Love your barbel vids but im mainly a pike and predator angler so i loved this . I really liked that you do ig your way in regards rigs and drop off indicators etc . Ive always felt that type of bite indication being taught as vital was over the top . Great to see you using the rod tips . Ive never done it that way but clearly it works a treat . Cracking pike too 👍. Ive never tried a feeder for pike either so you have given me some food for thought 👍👍

Thanks John.. Glad you enjoyed it. Many different methods work - Some are more popular than others. This approach has always worked for me so I’ve stuck with it over time👍🎣
@johnh5660Ай бұрын
@RobsAngling Absolutely. Totally agree . Tight lines . Look forward to watching more pike hopefully 😁👍

Excellent Rob. Never even seen a Zander (living in Dorset not surprising!). Done years of Piking ( mainly on rivers) but never used a circle hook. Very good for anyone new to it and inexperienced in unhooking. 👍🎣🙂
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
I prefer using them to snap tackle/trebles - Hookup rates are good once you get used to them. Good luck chasing a few yourself 👍🎣
@dannymorrill4082Ай бұрын
Great vid again Rob, never seen you do one of these before, when your up on the trent again you might want to get a predator rod out ,some clonkers in there,
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks Danny.. They’ll be a few more to follow this autumn/winter. I’ll have a dart around Newark next time I’m up there - Some decent Pike and Z’s about looking at the pictures people share 👍🎣

I haven't fished for Pike for a few years now Rob. For 20 years I did little else in winter. Probably done enough of it tbh. Grayling yesterday, Perch next week with lobworms! 🙂

The perch are calling for me also - Too much choice for what to fish for at this time of year. 😩🤣🎣

Well done 👏 Really nice pike beautiful colours and pattern .. good to see your approach to pike fishing. i usually stuff the feeders with mashed sardines out of the can from aldi supermarket lamprey sections are deadly - head section full.of blood caught me loads of doubles Tinned sardines full of oil flavour cheaper than using your deadbaits Thank you for sharing ....😊

Hi Rob, A great video as always. Do you mind me asking what set up you use for capturing the photos of the fish you catch please?
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Hi Chris, I have a fairly robust tripod that I utilise for my filming.. I this use for stills and video via a phone or camera. Have a look at the new Korum self take station - It’s a very useful and cheap kit for taking photos.. You just need to add a bank stick and you’re good to take photos easily 👍

Nice video, circle hooks I always hair rig from the “neck” of the fish out the top of the head and have the circle hook on full show just in front of the head 👌👌 never lets me down full confidence in it.. each to their own
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks JD - A few ways to go about it for sure and probably most will work. On small deadbeats like what I was using - The tailbone is my preference 👍🎣

Another great video Rob 👏 Your camera work is always amazing and just a quick question about it, how would you go about securing a go pro to a bank stick?

There are plenty of adaptors for sale you can use - If you search for Gardner Camera Adaptor, that is one that you can buy. 👍

I thought pike did not like resistance? Surely it would drop the bait once picking up and feeling the weight
@RobsAngling2 күн бұрын
Hi Sam, I was using a running rig so the line will pass through the run ring as the pike moves off with with the bait, with the lead not moving on the bottom - No resistance felt. 👍
@laytonrim1489Ай бұрын
Good video❤! If you want good pike then it might sound weird for the Tame but there's a free stretch in Tamworth and you can park at the Jolly Rodger car park, seen 15 lbs+ caught there😊

Thanks - I’ll take a look when next in the area 👍🎣

Hi rob. I got a BAA membership because of your vids. Travel from Preston lancs. In. your opinion, which section of the Severn is your no1?
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Good decision James as it’s well worth it. I don’t have a number one or preferred section - Most fish well at various times of the year. The key is picking the right swim for the conditions on the day. Good luck and have fun exploring a few sections 👍🎣

Nice one Rob. 👍 We're u using ur 1.75lb TC? And what line? Cheers mate
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks - Yes I was using my usual 1.75tc rods and reels, but with a different spool with 20lb mono. I put all of the details in the video description 👍

Rob - cracking Pike, beautiful markings. Quick question - why do you use such a short trace? - as a minimum, it should be 12" - most use 18" (as do I) - any particular reason for it being that short?
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Circle hooks almost always hook in the scissors or if not, 2-3” into the mouth max.

Circles nothing but bad for the pike they were never designed for catch and release cause more scissor damage than any other style
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Hi Pete, there’s pros and cons to all methods - Circle hooks, snap tackle and trebles included.
@pikeypete4637Ай бұрын
@ circles and singles specifically target the scissors the most delicate part of a pikes mouth it’s not for me
@peterfitzpatrick7032Ай бұрын
I've heard this before.... also, the research papers I've read re. using circles have never definitively come out in favour of them for the reason you give.... I'm not sold on them yet... we need more scientific data, not just follow what seems like a fad to me.... show me concrete proof circles are better than barbless trebles & I'll switch tomorrow !!.... 😎👍☘️🍻
@peterfitzpatrick7032Ай бұрын
@@RobsAngling I agree with you Rob... we really need more data on the subject and less "taking sides" by anglers... it seems to me that maybe people think they can be less urgent, attentive even, with pike bites by using circles... I myself AM open to being convinced of their superiority by objective data on the subject though.... 😎👍☘️🍻
