@@kaitlinhasler4500Since the passenger was of no help, what do you think they should be doing? The passenger is literally that: a passenger. In a drift boat or Dory, the "passenger's" role is to sit, enjoy the ride and be a "passenger". If the guide wanted/needed their help then they would have a paddle in their hands. Just so you know, when a boat gets caught in a hole there's not a lot you can do. Things happen quickly and you react to the situation. These guys were lucky they didn't flip because they weren't wearing helmets. In my opinion, this is foolishness on the part of the outfitter. (I speak from 45+ years of guiding experience)

Great production. Misleading title. While the Middle Fork of the Salmon lies with in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, the actual River of No Return is the Main Salmon River. You would think that Helfritch would know better.

Great video of some awesome fishing on an amazing river! Kudos... However, anytime you are on whitewater in a drift boat/Dory you need to wear helmets. The hole surf at 3:30 had great potential for a serious head injury as noted by how violently the passenger was thrown around. As a professional guide with 45+ years experience, I find this outfitter's ignorance a dereliction of duty in providing safety for their guests. Helmets are cheap compared to the cost of an injury. Given the remote wilderness setting of the Middle Fork I would hope that a "professional" would be more concerned with safety as rescue is a long way away. Two thumbs down to the outfitter...
