This is one of the few vids I can find on YT for a trip on the Usk. I'm familiar with the Wye but have heard that the Usk is a beautiful river too. Is Brecon to Talybont a relatively straight forward trip? Lots of nice little riffles I see. I guess the levels would be up in Dec?

Hi Andy, the Brecon to Talybont section is straightforward with only one real rapid to negotiate. I use the Llandetty Guage and 70cm is the lowest this section will canoe at. If you're used to slightly bigger drops then the Talybont to Llangynidr section with Gd 3 Mill Falls is definitely worth looking at

@@a4adventurewales Thanks very much for your speedy reply Tim. I'm reading some info off the web & it's telling me that this section is only paddleable in winter? is that right? Also, if you wouldn't mind where was the put in spot in Brecon, many thanks.

@@MrAndyballard there is an access agreement on the river usk ... but they forgot to get paddlers to agree to it. It is best in winter though as it needs to be at least 70cm on the llandetty guage if not higher. The put in at brecon is really straight forward at the Promenade car park
