My first kayak camp trip was a solo trip. Had to find a nice camp spot and catch some flatheads so I could brag about how awesome it was to get my buddy to go. I think river certified for the inspiration to do so. Me and my bro love river camping now

That flathead didn't look big in the net until you pulled him out. I knew that whisker seeker net was big, but holy crap, its enormous... and by the way I say (or pray) the same thing every time I catch a turtle. Looked like another very successful trip. Thanks for sharing the content!

Be glad you don't have to deal with the soft shells we have up here in Wisconsin on the Mississippi river . Some of the bigger ones get 3 foot across the shell !

I really enjoy your videos , I’m just getting into Flatheads fishing pool 14 Mississippi River mainly using gills for bait . After catching any catfish , if I know I’m keeping them ,I lop their tails off and let them bleed out on a stringer out the back of the boat then put them on ice it makes a huge difference in quality of the fish ! No fishy taste and very clean white fillets .

Used to run the Des Moines and Skunk Rivers on summer nights using throw lines anchored to tree limbs. Had tags made with auto reflectors. Either the nights did good and the days not, ot the otherwise around. Most of the big cats we got were at night though.

I was flathead fishing and I caught a 7lb walleye using a 8inch Shad, then my hand size bluegill got hit and I got a 10lb walleye within minutes! No flatheads that night but a nice meal later!

Oh, and I wish I could share pics on here, my oldest son who was 17 at the time, cought the largest smallmouth I have ever seen in person here in Indiana. It was at a dam comin out of lake Shaffer (AKA Indiana Beach) she weighed in at 7lbs. 3ozs............1 ounce shy of Indiana State Record!!!!
