These types of videos are what attracted me to your channel in the first place. Constant encouragement, always progressing and non-stop fun no matter what the river looks like. We're rain dependent in AR and I wish I could get more paddlers to go when there's barely any water, just to work on stuff. I've been in it a couple of years and I'm still working beginner/intermediate skills because it's just so stretched out over the year. I haven't been able to afford a dry suit yet but when I finally snag one, I'll be doing more runs like this! Thanks Pete!

Have y’all ever paddled rivers in Alaska? I can’t speak for the whole of the state but I know the interior (Fairbanks, North Pole, Delta Junction area) has some rivers that are good for day trips and kayak camping. I know of one company (I’ve only ever been on trips with them) that does guided wilderness tours if you’re wanting to see some of the wildlife. Just sayin’.

I have been to Alaska several times, but have only done some touring and some rafting. I REALLY want to go there for some kayaking.

I am back and as always i have questions.. what is Wilson Creeks norm.. and how fast isit CFS wise.... What class is it. Norm . Looks fun that low. And about a class2 at minus 15
@RiverKingsKayak Жыл бұрын
norm? It is just totally dependent on rainfall. As far as the traditionally run levels, most folks (including American Whitewater) would suggest that the min suggested flow is -6" (2.5' online gauge) and a high flow would be +6" (3.5' online gauge). I have run it up to +15" before and that is a whole different animal. It is a class 4 river. At normal low flows I call it extreme class 3 and at the Über elf flow we joked it was extreme class 2 in difficulty although the potential for injury due to the nature of the river bed is higher than any actual class 2 rivers.

Question??? What is the best level at Wilson for PFD have about a year under my belt paddling. And roll most of the time…
@RiverKingsKayak11 ай бұрын
Depends on skill really. I would look to have a pretty solid roll before I took it on at proper flow. It can have teeth at any level but -9 or so ( 2.25 online ) is a fun level for lots of first timers.
