I had been consistently catching 3-4 inch perch until I hit my pb of 2 1/2 lb. try as I might but its back to the 3-4's again (ok, mainly 3's). Tight lines fella and keep on catching.

Hey buddy. Just dropped some lures off at yours earlier today buddy. Thanks for the purchase and the kind words. I’ll try and keep a few more videos coming over the next few weeks. Hope you manage to get out on the river when it opens matey.

Another great video Paul, thanks for posting. I’ve just comeback from yet another blank on the GUC in Hertfordshire, a stretch I’ve read is ‘reknowned for big perch’. Only saw 2 perch. The Mrs had one on and it came off. Can’t help thinking the cormorants have eaten 98% of the fish.

Cheers John. I bet they are there somewhere matey just a little trickier to catch. One lucky cast or some serious fishing is needed I reckon

Paul, excellent video - big Perch are notoriously difficult to locate - find them one session, gone the next. I mainly fish the Upper Lea and of 8 sessions last year, managed 1 perch just over the pound mark. There are some real donkeys in the Lea so the rewards are there, but finding them is the biggest challenge. Great to see you back!

Hey bud. I was spoilt way back when perch fishing for numbers was easy and a 3lb perch showed up on certain spots pretty much every time I fished it. I didn’t fish the spots much and could usually go back and get similar results. I’m hearing some of these spots are not so easy these days but I may have to go have a try for myself. Expecting it to be tough though

I've taken to targeting those little jacks on UL gear which has proven to be good fun and resulted in a few perch.

Just finished watching your video Paul. Another great video with lots of information as always from you. Goes a long way buddy and much appreciated on my part. I must at some point have to get myself one of those BFS set ups … won’t be long before the rivers are open again 😀👍🏽 .. hope you and the family are all good and all the best buddy 😀😀🎣🎣

Hey John. Good to hear you’re enjoying the videos matey. Thanks as always for watching. BFS are nice but I think you need to give it a proper go and master the skills. I’m not too bad with some heavier cranks when trouting but tight spots and accurate casting isn’t always the easiest

If I'm struggling to catch on my local canal I usually scale right down to a 1 inch soft plastics on a size #12 hook and just try dibbling them in the margin. I've found that a good one to use is the 25 mm Fishup Tanta copies in brown that I get from Ali Express. I would rather catch a few wasps than blank, but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and accept that it's just one of those days

Hey buddy. Thanks pal and good to hear you are catching a few. Really should have started fishing for them sooner. Didn’t really give myself the best chance. Missed my window on the rivers before close and then a bit late to the canals. Ah well I’ll just have to do it all again another time hey!

I need to get a small bait caster for perch. I use one for piking and can pretty much ping the lure where I want. When I go back to my fixed spool im garbage 😂

Hey buddy hope you and the family are well. Yeah I know what you mean. My hands get in the way sometimes and also I’m not always looking right at the action. Head makes it easier. I’ll try and use a bit of both going forward.

It’s sad to see our Canals in such a state! I know there’s more angling pressure these days but I bet the pollution isn’t helping either 🙄

Pollution, the EA are a joke, United utilities are a joke, CRT are a joke haha not to mention the influx of certain people from out east.

Get to the fen land drains and Norwich way. Yorkshire canals are dead
@heyitsmetrousers43992 жыл бұрын
I catch every time on the canal, early mornings usually bring more fish. Just had a bag full of perch near me and a big 14 lbs pike. The canals are far from dead I assure you.
@RustyShackleford662 жыл бұрын
@@heyitsmetrousers4399 They are dead. Just because you can catch a few in one of the localised pockets that hasn't been wrecked (yet), doesn't change the fact. Looking at the bigger picture, you won't find many people who don't say their results have got worse year on year.
@heyitsmetrousers43992 жыл бұрын
@@RustyShackleford66 A few? Don’t you read things properly? I catch every time?? More than a few and some pretty healthy pike for the canal tbh, yes pollution is worse nowadays, poachers take fish from the waters and the general health of the canal isn’t what it was decades ago but that’s life in general not just “Yorkshire canals” 🤣 I pre-bait a lot of areas on my canals throughout winter and come spring, summer and autumn the catching is easy and plentiful.
@RustyShackleford662 жыл бұрын
@@heyitsmetrousers4399 Lol. There isn't an angler out there who catches every time. Get yourself entered in some competitions, you'll be world champ in 12 months 🤣
