Nobody asked but CLC spoke about the concept of this song in a live back when it dropped... They said the reason they were wearing all the things they said “no” to was because they were choosing to wear them bc the decided that’s what suits them best. Women shouldn’t have to dress according to some trend or how society says beautiful women should dress. They said women should be able to choose whatever they want bc they know themselves and their value best. I think this theme especially came out in the 3rd and final pre-chorus (when they were saying the stuff they were saying “no” to in Korean instead of in English ) bc they start to veer from physical things to how someone may act to be considered attractive in society (i.e. being sexy, innocent, or acting kind) This whole song/era was **chefs kiss** 😘 💋

CLC consists in seven members, under Cube Entertainment, same as BtoB, Pentagon and (G)-idle. they first started with a cute colorful concept, but now changed to girl crush. in the same vibe, i recommend "hobgoblin", "black dress" and "me". about the message behind, what i got it from the lyrics was them, as confident girls, saying "no" to the image that others put on them, based on feminine steriotipes (red lips, earrings, high heels etc). Yujin has a line that says "inoncence, sexy, cute, i can't be summarize in those words", so they said they accept who they are as a plural image inside that feminine body, dening what people forces on them, but using when they feels confortable. in the end is a "love yourself" kind of song, but in the females world, specifically. but feel free to look up for the lyrics

CLC are a group who have had quite a dramatic change in their concept. Their debut (Pepe) was really unique and preppy. after that they went full blown cute for a few years until 2017 when they released Hobgoblin (biggest bad bitch album of the year). They have a few badass concepts like Hobgoblin, Black Dress, Me and No but they’ve also done more preppy retro concepts like Pepe (or most recently) Where are you and Devil.

I highly recommend every CLC song, CLC is one of the few groups I could recommend like a 95% of their discography, They debuted with Pepe a feminist song, and the Ep was dope, the second Ep they had in 2015 'Question' I also recommend the whole Ep, every clc song has a story-message in common, even Yeeun, the main rapper said it recently, I know what she meant, because as she is also the member who has written the most,(by big difference, she owns credits in dozens of songs) I know she meant something like: there's songs that are self empowerment('To the sky' because it talks about following your dreams, 'Me' : about beauty being make by you, you do the beauty standards, and everyone is beautiful) Feminist songs ( Since Pepe the titlw track of debut ep, that had differeng message ghan 2016's No oh oh, that it can be considered also as empowerment in young girls, more than women empowerment, but i considered it feminist. Second comeback of 2015, they talked about love in Like/Im curious, and The sidetracks of EP 'Question' are amazing too) 2016 as I said: No oh oh, nu.clear ep, etc, they had also message as talking about many topics, included feminism, and love. They also made japanese debut ep, (which is not in Spotify, and they made a japanese comeback the same year,and the japanese comeback was included in Spotify) They ranked very high in Japanese charts without even promo for their 2 only japanese eps they have, they never made any japanese ep anymore since 2016(they did 1 debut and 1 comeback) also for their first normal comeback, they added 2 members: a famous actress : Elkie and a contestant of a famous idol show of South Korea. 7 members of CLC are very talented, and CLC is one of the few groups ,I could tell, openly feminist. In 2017 they had 2 comebacks: Hobgoblin(titletrack) ,( Crystyle EP, I highly recommend listening to the full EP, search the lyrics videos, etc.) The titletrack Hobgoblin 's main message..I think it is a call for someone to get out of its comfort zone and standards, etc, something like that. Some Members even brought portofolios with the ideas for the outfits of Hobgoblin MV, and ideas for the music video, and with help of their label senior : Kim HyunA, a very famous soloist rapper/singer/composer/producer/choreographer/songwriter/designer, HyunA, is a feminist icon, she also helped making the song: Hongoblin. HyunA did also participated in the ideas of the outfits and make up, hairstyle, and was with them,behind cameras obviously, for doing the Music Video. After Crystyle , in 2017, they comeback with Another EP, 6 songs, ep called Frees'em, a masterpiece of Ep, a pity it was very slept on and the title track "Where Are You?" flopped, but one of the sidetracks 'I like it' performance video, grabbed all the attention, the choreography was made by 2 of the members: Yuyeon(Yujin and Seungyeon) uwu The title track Mv was a masterpiece too, very artsy, and retro, Where Are You also kinda started a trend in kpop, but people slept on it. Then in 2018 they came back with Black Dress Ep, 5 songs. Blackdress as title track. I recommend every track. In november 2018 Elkie released her solo song, self produced and selfwritten. A masterpiece, ELKIE QUEEN OF BALLADS, period. They as CLC also had planned coming back with another ep by the end of the year, but one of the producer sold the song to another group that was about debuting, and CLC didnt know that till they heard the rookie group singing the song they've recorded, and maybe even cowritten, and also the mv, because in some episodes they were talking about their comeback and they mentioned it was gonna show many of CLC's colors. And the rookie group who used the song debuted with an ep called: color*iz, so we can tell it was obviously for CLC, and Then a demo version for the song was leaked in internet and it showed CLC singing to it. People have also mixed CLC black dress choreography videos with the song they lost in background, and it clearly match CLC style. Then in 2019 January they had their comeback(since 2018 january they released Black Dress Ep... plus in October (3rd or 4th) they released a Mv for one of the sidetracks of Black Dress but they didnt know about their comeback song being sold to another gg,till the rookie gg debuted in late october(27-28) with the song) In 2019 a music distribuitor started posting some of old mvs of CLC in it, and another one deleted some, still they had uploaded in CLC official all the Mvs, but 1thek had already uploaded Mvs for Btob, but seems cube never sign contract with distribuitor 1thek for CLC, but in 2018 did for gidle, and 2017 for HyunA, and Btob since many years ago . But 4minute(disbanded, also HyunA was in that group) ,Beast(disbanded), CLC, and some old HyunA's songs(the ones before 2016) have never been uploaded on 1thek. Cube had 4minute and beast, one of the most famous groups ever, and both were badly disbanded. They have CLC one of the best groups at the moment, and looks like this 2019 -2020 they're doing good, cause members even attended to a composing and producing class recently. Label Cube also had HyunA, one of the best soloists ever, hardworking, she kinda make all of her songs by herself. But they fired her in 2018 along with her boyfriend: Hyojong(Dawn), Now they both are in Pnation, a brand new label, that we all know is very good, since her old friend Psy is the ceo, and it has better quality MVs. Anyways I highly recommend giving a listen to CLC's No_1 's sidetracks, they are 5 songs, 1 the sidetrack You listened to, others: Show and Like it, that both have choreography, theyve performed it on stage. Breakdown: best sidetracks, in my opinion. I need u: a full eng song. CLC's no_1 Ep was the most high point for a girl group in January, and early first half of 2019. edit: Ive just seen that yall reacted to hyuna, so i guess you ll undertand what ive tried to say. Btw in case there's some confusion because of my use of grammarr or vocabulary: blame it on my keybord and on english not being my first language

Some of the lyrics for Me: Beauty is Me, beautiful beauty(pronounced as Me in english) Members Sorn said that they think Me contains too much Edm, so they cameback aftee that with devil, that represents more CLC's sides. But 3 of the comebacks they had this year , each one is like an era for some members, sknce in Devil: seunghee and Sorn had the most lines,Devil is obviously a song with all lines of the song with hard vocals , notes, etc.
