Armorers trick - add a piece of cardboard between the plates and rip it out afterward to keep enough space between plates :)

Talk to Ken and do it as a joint effort. This way you can waer the whole thing and show it in action. He is truly an amazing pilot and his creativity would work well with yours. Would make an awesome project. Worth a ton of subs for you both I am sure :)

You should post your drone footage, would be interested to see what you film, also I will offer a challenge for a future project. I recommend trying the outfit for Lady Sif from the Thor Marvel films. Nice cross between fantasy and modern armor.

It's sized for someone about 14 in. taller than me, so I can do the filming but not the modeling. Also 90 degree weather is not the best time of year to wear 20+ yards of black fabric for an outdoor shoot, so I may have to settle for setting it up on a mannequin somehow.

Good job Ms. Nice Hands. Looks like a entirely respectable piece of costume armor. Shout out for Ken Heron. Another great site. I look forward to more from you Lindy. Your production is good quality already and you'll be giving Simone Gertz a run for her money any day now. :)

I let it cool a little first, and the gun wasn't fully heated. But yes, when it's at full temp doesn't stick to skin exactly, more melts through it.

It looks quite good, but don't you thinks this is very time consuming compared to making a steel Gauntlet? There are ways without heating and welding that yield great results. Hammers and anvil shaped objects don't take as much space as the accessories that you use. They could fit in a small room. And most importantly; the steel stuff is durable. It feels and also sounds real. Because it is real!

You really need to get some proper mandrels. If you go to "Riogrande(dot)com", you can find a wide variety under "metal forming". (I appologize if this sounds like an advertisement. It isn't intended that way. It's the just the first dealer that came to mind. But, you could probably find tbese same tools at the usual culprits, like Amazon, Ebay, Etsy, etc.) Granted, these tools aren't cheap! BUT, you will find them usefull for quite a few things. And, they will last generations. They will make your life SO much easier, though.

Thanks for the suggestion! If I end up needing to make a lot more armor then maybe I can justify investing in some proper equipment for future.

Lindy Design Lab , the whole trick to be able to afford tools like these, (or any expensive tools for that matter), is buy them incrementally. Do NOT try buying them all at once, (unless, you suddenly recieve a huge inheritance from a rich relative). Also, these tools are useful for a great deal more than just armor. (Heck, you could even use it for making jewelry! 'Ahem...) These can even be helpful for correcting faulty vacu-forming, or even for impromptu vacuforming shapes. Once you have a collection of them, you'll start finding a variety of uses you never would have ever thought of before. Remember, as an artist, it's not what a tool was originally created for, it's how YOU discover how a tool could help with what you are currently doing. For example, screwdrivers were never intended to be used as prybars. But, much more than a few folks use them that way. Anyway, it's food for thought...

Hopefully more tools in future! I do enjoy the challenge of making do with what I have, but it's great to have new options opened up.
