I take delivery of my new 2023 Rivian R1S and record the entire delivery process. My delivery specialist, Anthony, did an awesome job explaining everything and I'd like to thank him for being a good sport about it. I had my First mile drive with Anthony! He is really good at keeping his promises. I needed the door measurements when they were open and he promised me that he will send those later. Exactly two hours later he texted me the measurements. Plus he made the demo drive fun. Keep up the good work, A!

I drove the R1S at Venice beach. Their staff was awesome. Actually offered me a tour of the town with my test drive. These are however vehicles for such specific use cases, sadly not viable for many enthusiasts

Happy for you, Tom! GREAT EV! I really love the R1S, but… my wife and I certainly don't need a larger 7-seat vehicle; it would be more prudent for us to go for a smaller, more efficient hatchback. That Mach-E in your garage is tempting!

I have my doubts with the 3rd row but this is the best video out there that shows 3rd row and 2nd row both could be seated at the same time. Also, it doesn't look difficult to get in and out of the 3rd row. Thank you!

Anthony was outstanding. Your video was so so helpful. I got my car no the 31st. It was a very rushed delivery and we never got a detailed walk through. This was outstanding. How can I charge the car at home without a dedicated Rivian charger. I just have a Tesla wall charger. Also I noticed the Anthony has some dilated and prominent veins on the is right neck. I am a physician and just want to make sure that gets them checked. You never know.

2:45 - The method of delivery depends on how closer you are to one of their delivery-prep centers (which are generally at or at least near service centers.) I am close enough to a delivery/service center that when my R1T was delivered last August, they did indeed drive it to my house, then the person literally Ubered back to the delivery center. My sister-in-law is in the same "metro area", but across a state line, and apparently hers was delivered from the nearest delivery center in her own state, much further away. So hers did arrive via flatbed tow truck like yours. (Something about state registration/tax issues presumably requiring the delivery happen from within her own state.)

This was my original configuration. I really liked the “reveal vehicle” and this was it (close as you could get). However, I changed my config to Launch Green and Black Mountain so I could get it sooner. Very glad I did, love that color. This is gorgeous though, can’t really go wrong with any color (except maybe canary yellow?…J/K).

On that conserve mode I feel like that is perfect for long road trips if your all highway then you have regen breaking on all 4 and drive on 2 and maybe have it where you can say fwd or rwd would be an awesome idea to to balance out the tire ware

So, I guess by cLlong NACS they indeed make ot a standard. Even for future Rivians. Beautiful truck. Color combination I'd choose. Throw on my ikamper rooftop tent which while it'll block that mice glass toof I had 4 people on rhe tent and my elderly parents in the back.

Interesting. I didn't know they still do home deliveries. When picking up my R1S I wasn't offered home delivery. I had to drive 40 miles (about 1 hour one way because of traffic) to the park where they were doing deliveries.

I have had the Lomax carbon fiber since August. You need to know it comes off and fits in the gear tunnel.. Also, you need to show how to get into the spare tire well.

Re: conserve mode. Is there a speed limit that you can shift from conserve to all-purpose ("AP") (or other)? In the driving-to-Florida example, when coming off the highway, can we switch to AP at 60/50/40/n mph?

I would never sign the papers for a vehicle BEFORE doing the inspection. Who knows what you might find that would be reason to reject the vehicle entirely? An improperly painted body section, suspension or frame damage, etc. ? Once you sign you lose all you leverage. I assume at some point you actually looked underneath?

Super bummed just got the “you are in a dealership law state, so no delivery estimate” email. Preordered Apr 2021. 30 min from El Paso TX and 4 hours from Tucson AZ. But because I am in NM they don’t even want to give me a wild guess. Guess I will just keep my X and get a Cybertruck when I can get my hands on one

Awesome. Can’t believe I watched the whole delivery of a vehicle that I’m not getting. Tried to talk the wife into one but after a year of the Lightning ( mine) she said absolutely no way. Doesn’t like having to worry about lack of range and worrying about finding a charger. Another RR P530 for her. Distance is so relative to where you live. You complain that 60 miles to the Rivian service center is “so far”…. Our nearest Tesla service center is close to one hundred miles away both N and S and greater than 200 E and W… no clue where the nearest Rivian center is

Hi Tom, I commented on your latest video re qmerit. I should have put that comment on this video. My experience so far with Rivian is not like yours and you definitely are being treated differently than regular people. I live within a few miles of you in NJ and rivian flat out refuses to do anything accept have me go to Brooklyn to pick up the car. I offered to meet anywhere in NJ not only at my house. I don’t have a trade so it’s a huge inconvenience for me to get into Brooklyn. Then they told me to figure it out within 7 days or loose the car! I’m fed up. Can we talk off line or private message. I don’t want to put specifics here out of respect for your channel and Rivian. Nice job with your channel and this video.

The Rivian screen seems to have a largely monochrome motif, with even color parts fairly subdued. I don't know how complete that is, but in what I've seen, it's a refreshing change from some of the fruit salad I've seen on some other EVs (maybe even some recent ICE as well, but I wouldn't know about such things). Some things surely require major amounts of color, but I haven't noticed it yet on these trucks.

A Rivian is a perfect truck for EA chargers. If you can't charge and you get stranded, you can just camp there. Of course, it might be a couple of months before EA gets around to fixing the charger.
