Australian feral goat hunt. Out chasing the Billy's again. Good mob spotted with the drone before I walked in with the 308 win. Ended up dropping 3 out of the first mob. Unfortunately they quickly moved into an unsafe shooting lane on a small crest.
Sent the drone up a second time and found a small group that had splintered off the main mob. Grabbed some subsonic's and went for a stalk through the thick stuff.
Managed to get onto a nice Billy at under 20m. Shot placed at the back of the head and down he went. Great result considering the terrain and scrub density. Will be heading back there again in a few days.
As a pro shooter I have suppressor permits and run a Q2 moderator on my 308. I use 135gr Buffalo river ammunition and find it super effective on the ferals.
I use Hornady 190gr Sub-X projectiles for my 308 subsonic loads.
Rifle is a Remington 700 in a Southern Cross Small Arms TSPX chassis.

Goat! "Low Fat Lamb"!! Lots of great Morrocan recipes, fir starters. Because it is "low fat", slow-roasted with duck fat works nicely The fillets (backstraps) make superb eating after cutting into about 25-30mm cubes, marinating in red wine overnight in the fridge and then skewering along with capsicum and small onions. served with rice or salad as the occasion arises. Something "belt-fed" might have been handy on that mob at 3:05.

The property is under a biobank agreement. They're not allowed to run any livestock on it. Weed management, bush regeneration and a feral animal control program is in place. Makes it difficult to hunt that's for sure.

My memory of about 50 years ago is most farmers and graziers had some sort of rifle behind the seats in their land rover utes and they would dispatch whatever they came across in their normal days work. Pests never got much rest before they put their lives on the line by people who were almost born with a gun in their hands and were excellent shots without any telescopic sights.

@@RJMHuntingAustralia That's why you turn the kunce into curry! Marinating in chilli and vinegear for a few days then put into a curry sauce and cooked for 24 hrs turns em into something special. Lamb is great, goat is better as the stronger flavour works for slow cooked. Lamb treated to the same treatment loses a bit of it's flavour and character, but goat loses a bit taking the edge off but keeps good flavour and character without the strong smell to the meat - and it becomes as tender as ef,yoo, cee, kay.
