What do you think of the new CRF250F? Any CRF230 riders out there looking to upgrade?
@larrytucker1945
@larrytucker1945 5 жыл бұрын
Tell us what you think? Is the suspension an improvement over the CRF230 and TTR-230? Are the breaks better? Kawasaki has an interesting off-road bike coming out also. It’s nice to have options between putt putt trail bikes and $9k-10k off road bikes. EFI and rear disk breaks are definitely welcome.

Also, tell us the difference between the 250f and 250r , which one is the best one? Which has more power or recommend?
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 5 жыл бұрын
@@alexj2283 Those two bikes are very different in power, the 250R is a liquid cooled performance engine that is meant to be revved higher and ridden more aggressively (motocross). The 250F is an air cooled engine that is meant to rev lower and used more for cruising around on trails. If you want more power and plan to ride the track, the 250R is the way to go, if you're more of a novice rider or want a bike to ride around on trails with, the 250F will suit you better.

Ultimately I just want my old XR250 updated with Fuel Injection, lightened up with a titanium frame, and a low profile street legal kit for trail hopping... Air cooled is the way to go. Way more reliable and virtually no maintenance. Fuel, Air Filter checks, change the oil, and replace the oil filter. Thousands of hours on my XR250 never a day in the shop.

I have a '99 XR250R that I've had since new. Been riding it for twenty years and it's never had a mechanical problem of any kind, still runs perfectly and does not consume oil. Probably tens of thousands of hours on it and I still ride it regularly. I also have an '85 Honda TRX 250 four wheeler that I bought new and still have, and still work it on the farm all the time. It also has been 100% trouble free and still runs great, at 34 years old. The old Honda XR air cooled engines were the best ever made, without a doubt.

Great video! Honda needs to make a dual sport version of this bike so they have something trail worthy to supplement the 450L. The 250L is a great machine but it’s really more of a true 50-50 dual sport bike. I think a lot of people just want something street legal to connect trails that doesn’t cost 10-12K.

@@KB3AOL I had a CRF250L for a few years and it is an extremely capable machine. The biggest problem with the 250L is the weight and even with mods and upgrades it doesn't feel like a dirt bike. My point was that we need more trail oriented dual sports on the market - bikes that feel like trail bikes but that you can use to legally connect trails. Think XT225 or DR250... bikes that weigh around 260 pounds that aren't enduro race bikes but can tear up single track and OHV trails.

@@jsthormahlen The WR250R is awesome but it's too expensive for a trail bike in my opinion. The CRF250F is in the same class as the new KLX230 from Kawasaki; a decent sub 5K trail bike with a dual sport option for legally connecting trails. I would like to see more of that from other manufacturers.

Unless you're a MX badass, these are great bikes. This was kinda my intro back into dirt a few years back. I rented a CRF230F from this place called Durhamtown to ride along with my son on his 110. It worked out great, and I enjoyed it. It had plenty of power, pretty plush suspension, and just worked. Your jumping is limited to smaller jumps, but that's all some of us are capable of. It would be nice if they could make them lighter, though.

To all watching this video and considering purchase: If you are 5 foot 11 inch and taller THIS BIKE WILL BE WAY TOO SMALL FOR YOU I am not referring to engine size being 249cc I am referring to its actual over all size. Im 6'1 and sat on one (2 of them actually) in person at a honda dealer... my feet were flat on the ground and my knees bent almost 90 degrees. This is a VERY SMALL BIKE. All these yoitube videos do not give you a true sense of its actual size. If youre between 5'6 and 5'10 max this bike will be an excellent fit. Ive sat on one in person and this bike is freeking SMALL. not to mention it has a very mushy sloshy suspension. Meant to be helpful here.

I bought a 250F in March. I’ve put a lot of trail miles on it since then. Not a fast or peppy bike, but it’ll get you up any hill or through any hole. It’s pretty heavy compared to other 250 cc bikes too. It has a lower center of gravity, which makes those tight corners ridiculously easy. I wasn’t too keen on having the electric ignition, but man, it sure is nice being able to just push the button and go. Especially if you stall on an uphill climb. The suspension is a little softer than I’d like, and it will bottom out occasionally. One other downside is that you have to be in 1st or 2nd gear with your ass way back in the saddle to get the front wheel off the ground. That makes for a wet ride when you’re trying to go through a puddle. the stock exhaust is super quiet, which is a plus for me, but not for others. It gets ANAZING fuel mileage, and it even has a low fuel light. The fuel injection system makes for a quick throttle response too. Overall, I’ve been very satisfied with it. If you’re looking for something to enjoy some trails without having to hold on for dear life while screaming through the trees, then get the 250f.

I'm 30 5'9 220 ish, I had the 230 when I was a kid I loved that thing, this is a nice upgrade, it ran good for old carb scooter, these new ones are sweet, I'd buy one it's got plenty of power for a weekend warrior, I can barely keep up with the expert guys anyways, I'd rather put around on this.

1.6 gallon tank? That's not much for a trail bike.. You want at least 2.5 or better yet, 3. The old 230 held more gas! Wonder what their reasoning was behind this small tank?

4:05 Inseam is key, height doesn't equate to inseam, there are 6' + riders with very short inseams, and very short riders with longer inseams. Not that height is a very poor indicator, just that inseam is much more relevant regarding seat height.

Great looking bike, especially with the upgrades, love the bare/silver rims. I wish they made an air cooled, adjustable valve, lightweight bike very similar to this, and this size with a bit more hp, closer to 30hp , emphasis on lower to mid range torque. I would expect to pay quite a bit more without complaint.

@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 4 жыл бұрын
The 250X is also a great trail bike but is a lot different than the 250F. It really depends on your experience level and what riding you plan on doing with the bike. The 250X is based off the CRF250R motocross bike and has a taller seat height, adjustable suspension, and a liquid cooled engine closely related to the race bike. The 250F is still a very capable machine but is not as performance based and more geared towards less experienced or smaller riders. I would also recommend finding ones for sale so you can sit on both and see what you feel more comfortable on.

@justonp1981
@justonp1981 5 жыл бұрын
JamesM M This bike is perfect for a 175-185 pound rider. Super low maintenance. This bike is not a track bike but the ultimate trail machine with the perfect amount of useable power. If you are experienced you can take this bike anywhere with less fatigue than any of your riding buddies on bigger, faster, motocross bikes. This bike just sips the gas also. You will go almost twice the distance of a 2 stroke or racing 4 stroke motocross styled bike. If you ever want more power there is a 300cc big bore kit already available for this air cooled motor.

Any issues with the FMF since it's fuel injected and you can't tweak the carb?
@TN_HondaDad
@TN_HondaDad Жыл бұрын
No as that is EFI doing it's job electronically measuring how much fuel you need. :-} In theory, you could start out in Death valley and climb to a 10K mt and the bike would never hiccup like a carb bike as the computer is always monitoring and adjusting the proper amount of fuel. Carbs are slowly going away of the dinosaurs with dirt bikes and its about time!
