The 5 Miles of Hell trail in southern Utah has long been known to be a torture test on even the most skilled riders and capable of machines. Four years ago, the Rocky Mountain crew attempted our most ambitious cheap bike challenge to date: $500 budget motorcycles on the infamous 5 miles of hell. Now, we're back for more punishment as we take Yamaha TW200s on the 5 Miles of Hell for some hard enduro riding in one epic day of battling the heat, our bikes and each other! Watch to see if we make it out alive and with our bikes still in one piece!

Man i bought one cheap years ago for something to just tool around on cheap. Now i love the little thing. Its been all over Utah and Colorado. If you want to know any trails not to do Colorado hit me up. We got in some some trails like this in Colorado and everybody wanted to give up but we made it. Honestly for me it would have been harder on a big bike. These these bikes are great for scenic slow cruising or slow technical stuff. Ive put over 15,000 miles on these bikes

I love my TW and I will take it places I would never attempt on my DR 650 but after watching this video I realized it is the wrong bike for this trail. There is no right bike for me to ride that trail though! It would have been fun 50 years ago and a real challenge 40 years ago, but now I couldn't even walk that trail safely. Thanks for the laughs guys, keep it up! Not all of us are interested in the latest mx bikes so keep the adventure riding videos coming.

Thanks. I have to say, i thought the TW would surprise me and do better than expected here. Nope! It turned out to be the opposite. I have had several bikes on this trail including a DR350s and DT175. The TW was by far the hardest. - Justin

I am 76, and have been riding since 1966. The bike that I had the longest was a 1986 XT600. I loved that bike, but in 1998, I realized that I would ride my 600 for 8 hours, and I would be stove-up for 3 days. I could ride my Polaris 500 quad for 8 hours, and then the next day I could ride it for 8 hours again. I finally sold that 600, and rode quads for 20 years. Then I decided that I wanted to ride a 600 again. I found a used one in Cali, and drove down from Pocatello Idaho and picked it up. I had to give it a top-end overhaul, but after that it was fine. I was riding it on a 2 track a couple years ago, and there was a tree across the road, but there was a go-around. While doing that I just tipped over. It took me 25 minutes to figure out a way to lift that top-heavy, High geared beast back up. I went back to the truck and loaded it up and took it to my favorite Dealer and had him sell it. I have to add, my 1986 XT600 was a dirt bike that you could take on the hi way. My 1994 XT600 was a road bike that you could take in the dirt. There is a difference!!!!! I was not ready to give up riding 2 wheelers yet though, so I bought a new TW200. I love this little under-powered beast. It is low geared enough, and most importantly, I can pick it back up if it falls over. In my younger days, I would have loved to have taken my 86 on that 5 miles of hell trail. Now that I am a little bit long in the tooth, I will stick to nicer single tracks and ATV trails. I have a 2022 Polaris Trail quad, and it is the absolute BEST quad that I have ever owned. I am still out riding at 76! I can't wait for spring. I want to go riding!!!!!

Dude, Charles is a dog man. Newfound respect for that dude. And I've been in the same situation as Chase there. The breaking point where you're like, "I'm effing over this...". Glad you pulled through and completed. Overcoming that kind of adversity is such a great accomplishment. I went through the same thing doing the Odessa Desert 100 last year. 7 miles left, and I just wanted to be done. But I pulled through and crossed the finish line. Best feeling ever.

My wife has a 2009 TW and I loved riding that thing. I would strap a chainsaw to the rear rack for clearing trails. I put a trials tire on the front and aired the rear tire down to about 5 psi and she would climb anything (slowly of course) I put aftermarket carburetor on it, It gave it a little more power and started much easier. Fun slow heavy bike.

I've owned my Tdub for about 5 years and have found that a stiffer rear spring, gold valves in the forks, and a 55 tooth rear sprocket really make the TW shine more offroad. Also putting 7 psi in the tires and having a front knobby helps too. I'm in Ogden if you guys ever want to check out my build. I've been waiting for a video for a long time that shows a good rider pushing the TW to its limits. It really is 80% rider 20% equipment.

I can’t believe you did that with the stock tires! Tusk should create a good off road tire for the rear!

I've got a bad feeling about this... That was some impressive hard enduro riding on those phat farm bikes. I love mine but I don't think I'd begin to try some of those places. I know it would bounce and zig me off a cliff when I needed to zag. They don't seem to have much of a clutch to slip. Maybe if it had a hub motor up front... Nah, no way. That's some fortitude. Great job guys! I'm glad you made it out safe. @MOBStreet83: No Matt, no. Don't get any ideas ;)

You would think the soft sand is where they would excel. But no! LOL That was cold putting water in my man's tire! Turns out you really weren't out of water LOL.

just wow! thanks for sacrificing your bodies and minds to prove the tw can getter done - not that you should, but just that you can. lmao! also re the clutch comment made @ 9:10 - you boys check your clutch return springs?? tends to be a common problem particularly amongst newer tdubs. looks like wes had an older year, but worth taking a look and making sure that's correctly seated. ♥charles, what a hero! you are officially now my spirit animal! well done man, bringing glory to the tdub and makin it look ez!

Other than the fat tires, riding a TW is just like riding a late 60's early 70's enduro. Not much suspension, low ground clearance, wide, heavy and a total lack of horse power, but also almost unstoppable. You all earned your money on that ride for sure!
